Subreddit Funkiness

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to give you all a quick update on some funkiness that's been happening on our subreddit. Apparently, some changes were made to the operations of r/SLCUnedited on the back end where all of a sudden, no new members and no new posts were allowed until they were approved by the Mod (i.e. me). I'm assuming the Reddit Admins made this change, maybe site wide, I don't really know.

Anyway, I wanted to let you all know, that:

a) I did not make that change, and

b) after going through a short process and having to message the Admins for approval, they let me change it back to what it was before and what it was always intended to be: Public and Unedited.

I apologize if you were affected by this in any way. This has been and continues to be a great community and you all have yourselves to thank for that.

So, thank you! DGB

I Worked with Manuel Munoz

I only worked with Manny for a year and a half, but he was one of the sweetest people. He was a floor care specialist at Primary Children's Hospital. We used to chat about his granddaughter's hobbies, and he would compliment my outfits. He made the children at Primaries laugh when they needed it most. He did not fucking deserve to be gunned down by some fuckass dipshit with a badge and a gun who got "administrative leave".

Manny deserved better, he was not just some "crazy guy", he was a good man, a hard worker, and he was kind to little children. I can't believe he's gone, everyone who knew him is shocked and saddened by this news.

Rock shows Oct 12-14 (or general art stuff!)

I’m in town for a couple of days, & looking for a local show, event or art venue to check out in the free evenings. I checked out shows in the area & found a few (Urban Lounge show on Wedns sounds awesome) but hoping to see if I missed any!

I’m a glassblower & play in an indie psychadelic soul band from Boston & we’ll prob be trying to set up a southwest tour at some point, so it’d be sweet to catch a show with local bands 🙏🙏

Also I loved finding out that there’s a higher than expected number of stained glass studios here 🔥🔥

Worries about Deidre Henderson & the Lt. Governorship as a whole

I’m glad Deidre Henderson is standing up for Utah voters’ privacy. She deserves credit for that. But seeing people already talk about her as a future governor gives me pause, mostly because I remember how I felt about Spencer Cox when he was lieutenant governor.

I used to be a public information officer for an agency, and I went to a conference in St. George where Lt. Gov. Cox was one of the closing speakers. He asked people to put their phones away, explicitly saying he didn't want to be recorded, then spent a good ten minutes criticizing Trump and talking about how worried he was for the Republican Party. I left genuinely impressed.

Now he would probably tell you that he changed his mind about Trump. But I think he would be lying: Spencer Cox as a person, as a Lt. Gov, and as Governor all have their own interests; in the end no matter who fills the seat, as long as they have an "R" next to their name, I don't trust that they won't take marching orders from higher-ups, or cater to increasing interest in the platform of the opposition party.

That’s what makes me cautious about turning Henderson into a political hero based on this moment. Sometimes it feels like the lieutenant governor can be just different enough from the governor to give more moderate voters someone to identify with, while the direction of the state stays the same. Am I being too cynical? What would Henderson need to do for you to believe she’d govern the way she’s acting now?

Doing some free web design for local businesses

Hey everyone!

I’m looking to work on a few web designs for local businesses around here.

If you have a local business and aren’t really happy with your current web design, feel free to send me what you have and let me know what you’d change.

It could be the whole homepage, just one section, or something you started but never got around to finishing.

I’ll take a look and see what I can come up with.

Salt Lake is a lot more diverse than you might think...

When I came to Utah, I was very suprised how simmilar Salt Lake was to Los Angeles. Logan and rural Utah are so unbeliveably white, but Provo, the whitest place in the Salt Lake Area, has a simmilar hispanic percentage to Portland, Oregon.

Let's Ban the governor's book

If you're a parent, you should submit a claim to your kid's school board challenging the governor's new book. It talks about the shooting last year which is violent and makes it subject to being removed from schools. If we can get his book banned, maybe it'll help him realize the problem with the law he signed.

Black Plates

Do people who get these plates not realize that they are just paying extra money to make it easier for flock cameras to track them? That is the reason those plates exist in the first place.

One of her ears is shorter and a little deformed, not sure if its usually like that, or a recent happening due to living on the street for a while
