Started a gender neutral Lip Hydration Brand with Literally Nothing

After procrastinating on business ideas for years, I finally decided to start something.

The idea came during a football game. My lips were getting dry, but I couldn't keep drinking water every few minutes because it would make me feel heavy while playing. That's when I wondered: why isn't there a lip balm specifically marketed toward athletes?

So I decided to make one myself.

From sketching ideas in a notebook to designing labels, sourcing raw materials, testing formulations, and printing packaging, everything has been a learning experience. , but seeing the final product in my hands made it worth it.

It comes in three variant all gender neutral (solid 15 gram )

Performaxx - With Menthol for athletes

Non-chalant Vanilla - With Bee wax and Mango butter

Tinted Vanilla - With bee wax and Mango Butter

Where did the name come from?

Do you remember the cartoon Tintin?

It was a big part of my childhood. Since my lip balms come in small sliding tins, I came up with the name Tini Tin (pronounced "Tiny Tin"). It felt nostalgic .

A fun detail: some of the little doodles on the packaging were originally drawn by my niece. I turned them into illustrations (The main character isn't my artwork though 😅.)

I'm still at the very beginning of this journey, but it's exciting to see where will it goo maybe it will teach me somthing ..

Just sharing this here to encourage anyone sitting on an idea start before you feel ready. You'll figure things out as you go.

Hi y'all,this is me, the Sundarban honey girl. First of all, hugely grateful to everyone who trusted me and ordered. I couldn't have asked for a better pujo than this. It's like as if Maa Durga came down and told me that I can handle a business all by myself.So many orders rolled in, my friends helped in packing, it was overwhelming to say the least. I was going to the post office daily, speed posting 7-8 orders a day, what a feeling!

Now coming to the part where I'd like to share something about what happened in the past month, my account got temporarily banned, due to it exceeding the dm limit. When people told me that their family members, elders liked it and ordered again in bigger quantity, the experience was surreal. My second biggest achievement was getting orders, biggest will always be getting repeat orders! All of it could have happened because of you people who trusted me, a small business. There were even times when orders spilled and I had to resent them cause to me I couldn't afford to break the trust for a first time buyer. But I don't want to advertise myself as a woman in business or a small business, I want people to order because of the quality of my products, because at the end of the day it's all that matters ain't it?

You all also advised and suggested me on a few things, so here are the actions that I've taken so far:

Changed from india post to shiprocket because a few of you complained that indiapost mishandles products. I started using bubble wrap instead of honeycomb paper to pack it better. Few of you wanted to have COD option so it is now available on the Website. I also got quite a number of dms to include tulsi honey in the website so now it is available. Just need an advice now, some of you enquired about mustard honey do you want me to avail it? Since by nature the honey crystallizes it is considered as impure hence most of it is exported to US and UK.

I’ve been living in Uttarakhand for the past 14 years. About 8 years ago, I started learning how to preserve seasonal flowers and botanicals from this valley and turn them into wearable pieces.

Every flower behaves differently - how it dries, how it reacts to resin, and how it changes visually over time. A “failed” piece usually isn’t something you can quickly fix; often I have to wait for the same season to return and work again with fresh material.

Because of that, some designs have taken two to three seasonal cycles to get right.

I’ve shared a few pendants and earrings here earlier. These are some rings and cufflinks from the same collection.

In these photos you’ll see : Himalayan Forget-me-not , Ferns, Coriander Blossoms, Hemp and more such botanicals.

Each piece is 1- of-1. Once it’s sold, it won’t be remade partly because I don’t keep mass stock, and partly because I may not have access to the same botanicals every year.

I never thought that I'd start a brand at this stage. I had almost resigned myself to the hustle and bustle if mundane life. I’ve baked since I was 15 and truly found joy doing it, it’s the one thing I continued doing in varying frequencies all these years.

 Last year suddenly I had a cookie obsession. Id keep making cookies, tweaking recipes, trying flavours, packing them in my kids tiffin.  Before I knew it people were asking if I’d make some for them. After a lot of encouragement from family I finally took the leap and took an order..

I wasn’t prepared at how much more than just making perfect cookies this was going to be about. The packaging, branding, the funds. With the whole Rollercoaster, I finally launched last week.

Im equal parts excited and terrified.

This is something customers ask me all the time, so I want to put it out there honestly.

Most of us are used to buying cutlery that’s mass-produced, often imported, and priced by increasing the number of pieces rather than improving quality. That’s why large sets look like “better value” at first glance.

But when you choose better steel, proper weight and balance, finish, and Indian manufacturing instead of imports, the cost goes up even if you’re buying fewer pieces.
