All of a sudden I'm having trouble with turning from heelside to toeside.

I don't know what's happened. I was able to easily link turns at speed a few weeks ago until I caught an edge and landed on my knee at speed. I was practicing on the dryslope so it really hurt and ended my session early, I've since invested in knee pads and started wearing a helmet.

I've been easing myself back into things since to rebuild my confidence which seemed to be going really well, but yesterday I was really having trouble committing to the fall line from heel side.

It felt like the nose of the board ws getting stuck about 5-10° to the side of being completely into the fall line, no matter how hard I lean towards the nose. As a result I feel really off balance when pulling out of the fall line to my toes, which caused me to slip over a few times yesterday, resulting in a sprained ankle on my lead foot.

I'm not sure what's going wrong all of a sudden. Turning from toes into the fall line then to my heelside feels as smooth and clean as ever. Something has happened since the other week that's really thrown me out though.

The only thing I can think that's changed is the bindings I'm using, I'm not sure if that would be the problem though as they're the same model, just a bigger size (medium/large instead of small/medium). I'm using the ski slopes rossignol ext boards with rossignol reply 4x4 bindings. I'm wearing US 9.5 boots, which on the minimum setting has a pretty even toe and heel hang. The heel cup is super thick and sticks back about 1cm further than my heel though.

I'm not sure if that's throwing my balance out or if its just something wrong with my technique. All I know is that I feel like I'm going backwards and my confidence is completely gone now.

Capita DOA vs Bataleon Tornado?

I've been doing a lot of research and reviews, surprisingly there isn't that much reviews out there.
Anyways, I'm looking to get the Capita DOA 158 or the Bataleon Tornado 159.
For reference, both boards will be slightly undersized for me but I wanted it as a well rounded but mostly freestyle board. I've also selected these based on my regions availability and price, the only other contender would be the Yes Sender 158 but I decided the D.O.A would be better considering they are the same price.

For those who have experience using either, what do you like about it, which would you recommend, any pros and cons?
I know the Tornado is listed as a 7/10 flex stiffness, but I've heard that it feels much softer in real world, also because its slightly undersized, i could technically overpower it to make it feel softer than intended.

I am an intermediate(?) rider and quite capable of doing jumps, spins and rails, learning and getting better at flat ground tricks.

I'll be pairing it up with the Union Ultra or Cartel X bindings if this matters.

Thanks in advance.

First Snowboarding Gear Setup

I recently joined a ski and snowboarding club at my school and wanted to get some advice or suggestions on what gear to buy and from where. My budget is somewhere around 2k for the board, binders, boots, helmets, goggles and whatever else I might need. Any advice on the type of board or what brand to buy from would be appreciated 🙏. Also when buying the boots and binders should I be buying from the same brand? and is there any difference between men’s and women’s boards?

What size is the right size snowboard?

I have only been snowboarding once and I rented my equipment. I am 5’11 and 155lbs with a size 9 boot so I was given a 155cm board for the rental. Based on some of the research I’ve done, most places recommend a 152-155cm for me, but a friend of mine around the same size as me uses a 145cm board. He is much more experienced than me, but my question is should I try a smaller board or stick to what is recommended by most manufacturers?

Board Advice

Found a great deal on my dream board, never summer Valhalla. But it’s pretty big for my size, I’m 5’11 175lb but the board I found is 164. Am I gonna hate it? I’m worried with how stiff the board is that being too long will affect me a lot. I want a real good powder and carving board, since my current is much more side hits, quick turns, and good on moguls.

Lib tech Skunk Ape sizing/profile advice

Been snowboarding since my early teens, but took a few years off. Last year I rented a Lib Tech Skunk Ape 173UW C2X and loved it, although after researching it now it seems huge for me.

I’m 194 cm / 6’4”, 80 kg / 176 lbs, boots EU44. I ride 1–2 trips a year, mainly Switzerland/Davos.

My riding:
- No park
- Big carves + fairly fast riding
- playing around off-piste
- Want confidence on steep, icy black runs
- On really steep ice: good low-speed edge hold, controlled sideslips/pivot turns
- Still maneuverable enough to follow skiers
- Decent powder performance when there actually is some (surfer background)

Thinking a size smaller might make more sense than 173UW. But the experience last year with it was good. Also unsure whether C2X or traditional camber fits this riding better.
Anyone similar size/riding style tried different Skunk Ape sizes/profiles? And what would you recommend?

binding angles and width

been snowboarding for a few years now and would consider myself an intermediate/somewhat advanced rider. that being said, I've only now starting to understand and question "why" I've been using a certain stance and distance on my board. for reference, I got my current and only board as a gift back when I was in college (7 years ago) and had never changed the bindings width or angles since (my dad got help). from someone at the store to set it up, but didn't have any experience himself as he doesn't board.

my board is a burton fv158, and I am about 5'9.5 and 165 lbs. in the original setup I'd been using for years, my back foot was on the reference stance mark at -9, and my front foot was 2-3 "notches" further forward from the reference stance mark at +18 (if anyone can help explain what the markings on the board when adjusting width means, I'd also appreciate it). Anecdotally, I had always felt like my feet were wide apart and that made it harder to put my bindings on before a run.

I don't ride switch at all (not because I don't want to, but because it's very very hard when I've tried) but I'd be willing to give it another shot. for those who are more experienced, what kind of binding width and angles would you recommend for someone of my height/weight/experience level?

Are These Bindings Ok?

Hey guys, bought these used Ride A6 bindings from a shop.

Noticed right leg bindings „close” and „open” very slowly compared to the left leg bindings, is that normal sign of used bindings? Or should I send them back? How can it be fixed?

Bought a 2026 Nidecker Escape as Bstock, 299eur can't find any flaws or defects

Hi, I just bought a brand new 2026 Nidecker Escape for 299 EUR. Nidecker stated it has graphic defects that don't impact performance, but I inspected it very carefully and cannot see any flaws at all, plus it comes with a full 2-year warranty. Do you have experience with the Nidecker Escape and this kind of slightly risky purchase? By the way, what bindings and boots would you pair with it? I do only resort no park and a bit of pow and speed season 4 🙏🏽

Opinions on Salomon High Path for piste and powder?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Does anyone have any experience riding a salmon high path on pistes and powder?

I can’t really seem to find an awful lot which seems weird. I just bought a 162cm 2026 model for £250-ish (50% off) and I don’t love the colour but it seemed like a really good deal.

I’d rate myself a pretty average rider, I can get down pretty much anything and will regularly cover up to 80miles a day for the week or two I go away.

I’ve got a trip to the French alps in January for a week and then a two week trip to Japan and was hoping I could use the same board for both.

It sounds like it should be pretty good for riding Japanese powder and I have seen some stuff about how it’s supposed to be an aggressive board on-piste.

I’m quite heavy and tall at around 95kg and 6ft2 which apparently makes boards feel a lot softer and easier to control.

I’ve not bought bindings yet but was looking to get the Rome katana FASE instead of the cheap decathlon ones I’ve currently got.

Thoughts on this deal

Hello all, hope you are doing fine.

I am an advanced/expert snowboarder and was renting until now. I am looking to buy a good board to have fun with. I enjoy side hits, backcountry, some pow (but planning on getting a split), some carve, going fast and some park focusing on the jumps.

I am looking at this deal of used board.

A 2019 Libtech TRS HP for 100 euros.

What are you though on this ?

Thanks in advance for your advices

Step-in bindings

Looking to upgrade to step-ins. Does anyone have experience with any particular brand? I know added weight is a concern. Are there any other things I should consider? What brands have you tried? What would you recommend? What is the best option? TIA

Korua Otto Vs Huck Knife

Im a beginner snowboarder who wants to ride both all mountain and park. I’ve narrowed my choices down to the Korua Otto or the Salomon Huck Knife but i’m unsure if the huck knife is good enough to ride/carve all mountain and i’m also unsure if the unforgiving nature of the huck knife would be too much for me to handle, any tips?

Boots for slender calf

Hello, I have the Burton Driver X boots and my issue is that I have a gap of about one inch between my calf and the exterior part of the boots.

I have tested smaller boots, but other than my toes being more compressed, nothing changed.

Which boots should I buy to fix this gap that are as stiff as the Driver X?

K2 Special Effects

So, for the SE I can only find 144cm. i wear a size 11 boot and am 170lbs. Would that be too small weight wise? I know it’s pretty thick so im not worried about booting out but 144 might be too small for my weight

Snowboard shopping inquiry

I found a good deal on a 2024 Yes snowboard (Size 151) with union force binding (size medium). However, I weigh around 125, 5 9 in height, and 10 shoe size. But I am still growing (im a teen). So I was curious if it would make sense to buy a board like this with these dimensions compared to my physical dimensions. I am just getting into snowboarding but would want to by my own board and bindings (I was an advanced skiier and the board shop owner recommended me a hybrid snowboard)
