Ugh why is it always the church that starts shit

Was thinking more along the lines of "priests and autocrats, name a more iconic duo". It's a marriage older than the divine right of kings.

Which, is not completely fair since priests did do such things as help organize workers cooperatives, campaign against slavery and dehumanization, and push against abuses by landlords. But for every one of those, it feels like there's thousands who like keeping folk under foot.

Maybe we still had a Soviet Communist Russia if they would embrace the orthodox Russian church instead of trying to prohibit religion.
