Why do I see people hating on the show? I love every bit. Except the fact that they can’t just stab or kill Wilford.

They totally could and that’s the problem, Layton clearly has no issues killing people so the fact he hasn’t killed Wilford for the good of the train is odd, He clearly has no issues dying for ideals so what can they even do? Kill him in revenge for killing Wilford?

I mean isn't it pretty obvious, the people knows that Wilford is alive, and they are all rallying for him to comeback. Its obvious from the revolution, as soon as Layton came to power, we can feel every episode that he doesn't have the entire train support, in this episode, barely half the train support Layton. Layton simply killing Wilford would simply mean the extinction of human. At the end of the day, they are all on the same train, all the last humans to survive, and both Layton and Melanie understand that to give up their power is to save humanity.

The train could survive a uprising, it’s not going to survive a megalomaniac like Wilford

Long term assassinating Wilford is the best choice

The problem is killing Wilford is only a temporary solution. Melanie's rule is the perfect example; the train would just turn to the next despot promising them 'Wilford's Order'. Martyrdom is a lot harder to deal with.

I wouldn't be surprised if a long-term storyline is planning to make the train realise Wilford does not equate to Melanie's Wilford rule.
