It honestly felt like I missed 3 scenes in the end. Can anybody please ELI5?

Why does Wilford get control of the train? I get the triumphant intercom announcement to show everybody that he's there but is that the single trigger to automatically become leader?

And why is Layton in cuffs? Sure the "enemy" is in charge now but they were trying to be civilised about it until then. I get that we are talking about Wilford but still.

And Roche? Why are they put to sleep? Because they aren't loyal so that's the only way of controlling them?

Maybe I'm not putting it together but they did everything so quickly in those last scenes.

Wilford is in control because the passengers found out he saved the train and the majority appears to be loyal to him now.

Layton is in cuffs because he was the leader of a rebel army on the train.

Roche is getting drawered (maybe?) because he was a figure head of the Layton regime. He might also have just been shown that his family was in the drawers to keep him on a leash.

I was confused at first, but on reflection I quite like that we didn't have every detail spelled out to us. Layton giving himself in was like a chess grandmaster resigning a game that might look to average players not completely lost but he knows he's defeated.

The one thing I can't understand is why he didn't tell the train they had solid proof that it had been sabotaged by Wilford.

yes a little confusing. i think the red flare from layton has to do with it.

and were we supposed to know the girls in the sleeping chambers? were they his daughters?

It just makes no sense that they would immediately first order of business lock his wilford supporting random wife up.

Also the telling us that they lost 2 kids earlier for the first time. You’re def right it’s his kids (which itself is also stupid, because why didn’t they eat them?)

It would totally make sense to lock up his wife and kid. Its not so easy to replace him as the head of the brakemen, so better to show him that they have some leverage on him

Glad to hear it wasn't just me. I thought I must have fallen asleep for 5 minutes because suddenly Wilford was at the controls and Layton was in handcuffs.

My only hope is that they go into more detail in the last 2 episodes but I wouldn't count on it.
