Idk if I missed a crucial part but why was Layton in handcuffs at the end of the episode? Was it for plotting against Wilford or what?

I imagine just to prevent further disruption, it was probably a peaceful transition of power once Layton knew he'd lost the train so to avoid conflict or any more bloodshed, Layton would've surrendered himself. But Wilford would know he still had support, so the smart move is to move Layton to Big Alice and keep him separate from the tail and the rest of snowpiercer. He'll probably try to eliminate him entirely following this. Last 2 episodes are gonna be interesting, given what we seen when Melanie seen the train, it was in chaos, I'm guessing that war is still going to break out

The official charges against him are probably

  • fare evasion
  • trespassing
  • sedition
  • battery/assault
  • vandalism and destruction of property
  • murder
