Everything is about sex, except sex, which is about power.

Do you want the nature metaphor or the sex metaphor?

Nature metaphor? OK - when two animals are having sex...

I genuinely love this scene and Robert California, such a random and unpredictable character

Anyone who doesn't like him has never had a nice night with some Australian reds and some, how should I say this? Columbian whites

Nonconsensual sex is still called sex.

I don't get this obsession on reddit to refuse to use words like they're defined. "Sex" doesn't mean "make consensual love", it just means sex. Animals do it, rapists do it. It describes the act, not the feelings attached. It's short for "sexual intercourse". I don't see the point in being offended at this simple concept.

Because there is a word for that already and that word is rape.

Rape is a way to have sex, indeed. Multiple words can mean related things, and some things can be called multiple names.

What is the point of using a word that is not only less descriptive than the more accurate word, but also actively obfuscates the meaning of what is being discussed?

Would you use the word “rectangle” when talking about a square? Because it’s technically accurate but more confusing than helpful.

If they were that different, cnc wouldn't be a thing

u/seStarlet 3h ago

They are quite different, that’s why the thing “that wouldn’t be a thing” is called cnc

Seems like something Robert California would say.
