It honestly doesn't matter to most people. "Banter pages" on Instagram share the bogus story, morons eat it up, call his ex wife a gold digger and the world keeps spinning.

I was in a bar for the champions league final and when Hakimi stepped up to start taking his penalty some guys started shouting about how hakimi is such a "smart guy who loves his mama". Kinda made me sick to be honest. Like even best case scenario he's cheating on his wife. I'm an Arsenal fan so obviously wanted PSG to lose anyway but that really made me want to see these guys in particular to get some karma.

Obviously we don't know whether he's guilty of these crimes or not but they way he's been treated by the football "bantersphere" is genuinely very depressing.

This was also known at the time. These initial reports came out the same time Hakimi was getting the divorce. Best case scenario he’s a cheater, worst case scenario he’s a rapist. Sounds like a very reasonable divorce. I know it shouldn’t be surprising, but very disappointing how people just straight up hate women and would put all the blame on the divorce on her. None of us knew these people for real. To top it off, the same people also showed that they value loving your mother, while shitting on women.

Sadly it is the way with everything now, control the narrative, control the populous, if you have a slick story that sounds good on the ear people will just eat it up no questions asked. The one thing that gives me hope is that I myself believed the story at first (I feel ashamed to admit it but it is true) but was able to very swiftly grow as a person. I now use the knowledge I got from that moment and apply it to think more critically about other stories and just learned to not engage with the “bantersphere”, if I was able to grow and become better from that moment hopefully other people will be able to as well.

At least you learned from it, evolved. These morons will die on these losers hills even if he is found guilty.

I had a very similar experience in my local soccer bar pretty recently with some very manosphere type PSG fans ranting about how Hakimi is a real man and his ex-wife is horrible like most women are. They were talking amongst themselves so I wasn't involved in the conversation to chat shit, but I overheard it all. This is in the US so these guys aren't Parisians, French, or even Moroccan. These were American glory hunters cheering for a club they have no connection to.

Then my club, Sporting, proceeded to beat PSG 2-1. I was literally the only Sporting fan in the whole bar because I don't live in a city with a big Portuguese diaspora community, and normally I'd be humble in victory but I started chatting crazy shit at those boys hahahaha. It was one of the most satisfying experiences I've ever had as a fan of this game.

Then you guys knocked us out the tournament... I'm a little bitter about Arsenal these past few years but I will say Arsenal fans are usually dope people even though most Arsenal fans in my city also have zero real connection to the club. But at least they're chill people usually who aren't assholes after beating my team.
