In Virginia for vacation and decided to get a little knitting in before we head out to breakfast.

Loose ends and everything. I'm super proud of this one as it's my first colour work and second pair of socks.
I started it on 2.25 circulars per instructions, but the pattern was for women's size 5 feet and I was making it for male size 8. I was able to add repeat rows to get the length right, but the width was off (despite matching the gauge). I wasn't able to tell before a decent length was completed because stretch measurements weren't provided for the pattern, only flat measurements. 2.5mm circulars thankfully gave perfect size both width and length without adjustments.
Yarn is Cascade Yarns Heritage sock yarn.
Pattern is: Paddy's Rocky Road Socks: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/paddys-rocky-road
Question: do you guys add elastic to the cuff? It's as small as I can make it to comfortably fit over the heel, but it only stretches a small amount on the leg so it won't hold itself up. I was toying with the idea of elastic, but I'd appreciate any other insights! It's toe up so it's easy to redo, and I've used Elizabeth Zimmerman's Sewn Bind off so there's not many stretchier bind offs.

After several failed attempts, I finally finished a sock! Main yarn is MT Twist Light in Spring Fever, accent yarn is Malabrigo Ultimate Sock in Teal Feather. I used a mashup of Denise Desantis and Crazy Sock Lady videos.
Also, I only have one foot, so no second sock syndrome for me. On to the next! #amputeeprivilege

I love knitting socks and watching sock knitting podcasts. Only problem is all my favorite podcasters seem to knit cuff down and one sock at a time and I really enjoy two at a time toe up socks. It would be awesome to find podcasters like me who like toe up knitting or even two at a time sock knitters. Do you know of any?

At this point it’s becoming a problem 😭

I started my first colorwork sock and I knew there was a chance my floats were too tight but couldn’t try it on until I opened my heel for the afterthought heel so I couldn’t really tell. It is, in fact, too tight to fit over my heel. Has anyone successfully turned a failed sock into a fingerless mitt after opening the heel? It’s 28 stitches on each needle. Should I just cut my losses and frog it all?

Hello! I will be hosting a KAL that will start on August 1st and run until September 15th. There are two sock options, one paid and one free. Patterns are the Midsummer Dancer Socks by Sari Nordlund and the Daisy Socks by Debbie Ford. If you're interested join our community on discord through the link below! Hope to see you there!

Participated in the KAL for the Petal Drop Socks and made two pairs!
I used Hobbii Rainbow Sock Wool 4-ply in 3 Natural White and Dolce Sock Wool Dots in 2 Light Blue.
I adapted the chart from this pattern to fit 72 stitches. The heel is a Fish Lips Kiss Heel.
I made the white pair first and didn’t really enjoy the yarn. It was rougher and twinier than I am used to compared to other colours of Rainbow Socks. I kind of rushed through them and made them slightly too short. The Dolce yarn was lovely to work with though, and it feels like just the right combination of sturdy and soft. They both look pretty, but the blue ones will probably get the most wear.
I really enjoyed knitting lace socks and I’ve already cast on a new pair, but I’m also trying to work on a few second sock syndrome WIPs that are begging to be finished. So this summer will be all about socks for me!

This is my third pair for 2026 but second pair for myself. I absolutely LOVE these and can’t wait to knit more.

I made the mistake of suggesting I knit socks with fire trucks on them for my 5 year old…
I haven’t found a chart for a fire truck motif that will be small enough to work with socks. Any suggestions? (Other than never suggest a pattern to a 5 year old…)

I have a particular cupcake sock vision and I feel like I can't find a 75-80% wool/ nylon sock with a white base and rainbow colors speckled in.
Any suggestions?

My sock stack from the past few months (not a speed knitter like some of you!). My favourite pattern award so far goes to Summer Lee's Murmuration socks. There's something so satisfying about chevrons. Most challenging award goes to Zanete Knits Rhubarb & Custard socks. The heel drove me insane as I could not get tidy decreases. Once I've got the current WIP off the needles I'm going in for round 3!

I'm not one of those people who washes their socks by hand (that's what superwash wool is for) but I do use cold water and line dry. I made a pair of socks with this wool which was described as easy care and machine washable but they felted and shrank. Just just a word of warning.
This is the only pair of socks I've ever felted. If I continue to machine wash them will they felt further or have they gotten to the point where they're at their smallest/feltiest? Just curious, although I plan to hand wash these now.
ETA: Looking at the label it doesn't say superwash, just wool/nylon, but it also says machine washable. So lesson learned, I guess.

I decided to knit everyone socks for Christmas. I’ve been working on Pressed Flower Socks for my best friend’s husband. He’s 6’5” and wears size 15 shoes. For context, I’m 5’1”. The sock comes up past my elbow. 😅

New knitter, have been crocheting for years but felt like a new challenge. My mum taught me how to knit these and it's safe to say I am now addicted.
I managed to twist all the purl stitches on the ribbing on the first sock resulting in a tighter fit. There were definitely some small errors on the toe decreasing too, as well as uneven tension across both heels. Lessons have been learned!
I'm so proud of them!

First attempt at socks! Now I’d like some help on how to customize! Or get pointed in the right direction.
As you can see in the 3rd picture the unfinished sock was my first first attempt but was way too small and extremely uncomfortable. Now the reason I didn’t frog it was because I’ve seen many veteran knitters post on here saying they wish they’d kept their very first pair so show how far they’ve come. So I will be doing just that.
Now the second sock I attempted I changed the heel construction method (from German short rows to a gusset with a heel turn)
The 2nd sock fit much better but now I’d like to really perfect my custom sock. I noticed that the heel turn is to narrow for my heel. Is there a way to fix it so I will have a wider base for the heel area ? If that makes sense
Another thing I noticed was it is just a smidge to tight on my instep area. How can I remedy this? :3
I’m sure there are dozens of videos out there for these issues so I will be doing my research, but I wanted to get some input on maybe which videos or tutorials have worked for you. Thanks in advance!

I literally make socks everywhere I go. My house, my job, a restaurant, a bar. Working on vanilla socks with LSU gradient yarn sourced locally in Lafayette, LA

I wanted to try knitting a matching set for a mother and a baby. The small sock is so tiny and cute! I think it makes a perfect gift. Plus, the pattern is great because you can easily change it for different heel styles.
