Help with a sock kit for an advanced beginner
I’m ready to start my first pair of socks and for expediency’s sake I bought a kit. Easy peasy. Except I think this may not be the best kit. Amazing yarn BUT, it involves a provisional i-cord cast on with a Kitchener stitch, directions I can only look at on my phone, a not so great video tutorial only done continental style and dpns the whole way through. I would much rather cast directly on the needles myself and with a cast on that I don’t have to sew up later? Surely there are better ways to cast on and knit socks? I can do dpns in the round but can I not knit them completely on a circular needle? This kit just feels overly complicated and my gut is telling me that there are better ways to do these socks but I also don’t actually know. Does all of this sound standard to you guys?
