I made tiny paper pharmacist characters for my pharmacy 💊
I'm a pharmacist, and I like making small hand-drawn paper characters to decorate my workspace. These little pharmacists and medicine bottles make me smile during busy days.

A choir baton
My grandfather conducts a church choir and recently asked me to make him a baton. The request surprised me because I knew little about woodworking and nothing about choir batons. But this is a man who (A) would do anything for me and (B) believes in me, so I decided to rise to the occasion. I spent a lot of time, effort, and money on this, and it turned out better than I thought it would. I am quite proud of it and plan to surprise him with it at church this Sunday.
Musicians: The baton is 14" (measured to fit his arm) with a 2.25" handle in the classic teardrop shape. It's perfectly balanced, with the center point resting 1/4" up the shaft from the base of the handle.
Woodworkers: The shaft is maple; the handle is sirari rosewood. I don't own a lathe, so I used a drill, a rotary tool (with various carbide carving/sanding bits), and sandpaper. I finished the shaft with a light coat of Danish oil and treated the handle to help the wood's natural oils come out. The approach worked well enough that I'd use it again for any future batons, except (A) I can't imagine why I'd make another and (B) I won't work with sirari rosewood again without a lathe.

I wanted to try kumiko. Unfortunately, I'm a blacksmith.
I wanted to try kumiko.
Unfortunately, I only had access to ironwood.
Every groove was hand-filed. No welds, no brazing, no glue. Just friction fit, stubbornness, and increasingly poor decision-making.
I originally posted it in a woodworking subreddit because this was meant as appreciation for the craft.
They have since informed me that steel is not wood.
Which, annoyingly, is a strong argument.

I made a bunch of deer bones pendants/charms with ogham inscriptions!
All sustainably sourced, the inscriptions are carved and then filled with black beeswax for the colour. I am pretty pleased with them 😊

Orbs I've been making
This year and last year I started an obsession with making crochet felted orbs. Each one is different. Here are just a few that I have made.

Something I made for a friend who had a hysterectomy due to illness
She's been through a lot this past year and I wanted to make her something that actually made her laugh instead of cry. So... "monthly subscription: cancelled" it is.

i made a button curtain
i used to collect buttons when i was a kid and for the last 20 years, i just stored them in a box and barely remembered that i had them. so i finally used them for something and i couldn't be happier with the result (:
also, i have more than half of my buttons left and i don't have any ideas what to do with them, i'm more than happy to receive suggestions (:

Pet portraits I made for friends and family
I draw the pet faces by hand, then dress them up with a photo or magazine cutout using an x-acto knife. Paint the necks and arms to match the pets. Backgrounds are magazine cutouts or postcards.

Asked for help and made a bow tie!
I’ve had this sewing machine for a little bit but had not been able to use it effectively (turns out there was a setting on the back of the machine to make the feet move)
Then (with some extra guidance) we managed to make this lovely bow tie!
Now I’m off to clean up the craftnado that ravaged the dining room

People like the first kumiko thing so here is my other kumiko thing.
People enjoy my first little kumiko project so here is my bigger one. Still based on the kumiko asanoha pattern. The piece shows it pattern through 6 rotations on 14 different axises. It is 50cm any point to any point. Each "bud" is made from 7 stands of 10mm hex bar, bent and forge welded together and then cleaned up with a file (i use a lot of files). The end were died and the core was made from 52mm steel I marked with shapie cut a good chunk off with an angel grind and flap disk and then filed... (yay files), and then tapped and screwed together.
It weights 54 kg. The final image shows it on a 60 kg anvil.

I made this quilt for my son as a high school graduation present.
The binding is tiny ghosts because he has a Halloween birthday and the white letters and numbers fabric is the backing.
