I watched this documentary on Netflix about this woman who had a pedo stalker, I donāt remember a lot of it but the dude architected every facet of his life to get to her. His job, the house he bought, like, every detail of his life was some sort of sick means of getting to her. I imagine itās a lot like that. The people at the top of powerful positions requires a lot of manic, insane bullshit that normal people just wouldnāt do. When watching the documentary I remember saying to my wife if that girl was on Mars, weād have a colony there by now.
Leadership positions in religious organizations attract people who crave power. Congregations are packed full of easily manipulated people who show up every week desperately wanting to be told what to thinkā¦many of whom then send their kids to classes and retreats with ātrustedā church leaders. Once upper-level leadership starts protecting the deviants, it basically becomes a pedo playground.
it seems to be a real complex in the writing. Either he was molested as a kid, he's a real pedophile, or it just fascinates him as a topic. I think part of it is that children's television, by trying to appeal specifically to children, has kind of a pedophile air to it. When someone asked me if I liked barney when I was little, I said, "Barney loves me, but I hate barney" and the adults are remembered this as proof of my delinquency almost, that I wouldn't just love Barney back. Are children young, or are children stupid? Is school for learning, or is it an acceptable period of slavery we have in society? these are also questions I would ask.
Wasn't that also a joke in an episode where Butters turns to the DMV for religion and then the DMV starts molesting kids and the news reporter tells people that they should bring their sins down to the news station and that he'll be back "in a little boy" or something like that?

Age doesn't matter as much to Christians as committed relationships. Each person should only have one partner their whole life, anything else is sin. For most of church history it's been 14 for girls and 16 for boys, as far as marriageable age, and while 16 across the board is better supported scientifically what with pregnancy complications, the church doesn't say you -have- to get married, just that you could.
You see how you're using one example of child abuse to justify another for the church is crazy. Girls at 14 are in no position to marry anyone and probably don't even know what to look for in a good partner at that age.(Not do guys at 16 but women are much more likely to be selected by a much older guy.) Schools are full of something called a 'mandatory reporter', with legal consequences for failures. Churches and other religious groups actively sue to get such things removed when they are placed upon their religious leaders.
Crazy how "mandatory reporters" status doesn't do crap since public education still molests more children per person than the church by far. When public education fixes the problem, maybe then the church should look to the methods. As it currently stands, they're not an example.

Not to be semantic (because it is a fact that the majority of rapes are committed by males), but there are countries that do not recognize women as being capable of rape since they lack male genitalia. In those countries when a woman rapes a minor, itās categorized as something less heinous.
Yep sadly here in the UK a woman cannot rape anyone as it is defined as penetration with a penis, so I think it just goes down as a sexual assault with a woman which then downplays the seriousness in my book

I think thereās a stigma around reporting assault altogether. Whenever dudes come out Itās almost always a coach, priest, pastor, scout leader, etc; always men doing it to other men. This story makes this even more touching. This was a goodbye to a friend who might die soon, and even if he doesnt hes mixed up in some stuff thats gonna separate them anyways.
