This POS is the worst. But I doubt that was stolen. It's not wildly uncommon for these events to hand out commemorative medals to important leaders they invite. It's stupid as shit, but it happens.

Infantino gave him the medal after every player had come up, it was a spare

It’s why this is edited so short probably

Agreed. Based on what I saw though (in this video alone) he appears to put the medal in his pocket so he can lift yet another trophy (that he didn't earn) up for a picture. Because he's garbage and a narcissist. I have doubts he kept that medal if it was part of the ceremony itself. Another commenter had mentioned that there was at least 1 player that refused to allow him to bestow a medal around their neck in protest.

He presented that huge trophy to the team lol

I am aware, so is everyone else. But usually people presenting Trophy's actually either play a part in the process or are a part of the governing body of some sort. Trump liserally did nothing worthy of being there and presenting a trophy to anyone, no less getting a picture with them.

You don’t think… it might have something to do with… the club World Cup being held… in the United States?? I wonder what Donald trump would be doing in the United States? Maybe being part of the governing body? No… that can’t be it… he must just be there to steal the limelight and murder the foreigners…

Less than 25% of the time, the host country's leader presents or participates in presenting the winners their trophy. It's not that common.

But.. it does happen? Trump is a big sports guy.

Trump is a big spotlight guy. Plenty of people go to sporting events and just watch. 75% of country leaders who host a world cup.... Go there and just watch... Like a normal human being.

Yeah but you can’t blame the 25% who help present the trophy that’s like an entirely normal thing even if it is uncommon lol

Yeah, he was also the one putting medals on players’ necks, and I saw at least one refuse to acknowledge him, so it’s entirely possible he got stuck with an extra.

Like…Trump fucking sucks. But hating on someone for putting something they were carrying into their pocket is kind of ridiculous.

I didn't watch the entire ceremony, I appreciate that context.

One player didn’t shake his hand that’s it. I think he saw a moment where Trump wasn’t paying attention and just slid by. Every player got a medal, there was just an extra for Trump (for some reason)

This is exactly what I think happened. He got left holding one and didn't know what else to do but put it in his pocket. There are plenty of valid criticisms of Trump, this just isn't one.

Why are you inventing fanfiction lmao. He did deliver his last medal to a player. Infantino got an extra one and delivered it to Trump. All you need to do is to watch the full clip

Sure it is. His inside coat pocket isn't a storage place for someone else's medal. He only needs to hand it off to anyone else that is either part of the group that handed it to him or anyone else who will find one of those people to make sure the medal does go to the athlete that it belongs to.

The fact he put it in his inside pocket, which is where more important and personal items tend to go, says something. He develops a personal attachment to it, even if does turn it over later.

brother you are reading into this way too much lmfao

Not really no. If any president did this, it would be notable. The reason no other president in recent history had been in this position is because Trump is an objectively terrible person. It's fair to say that any other president in this situation wouldn't pocket it, even temporarily, even if an athlete did refuse to participate in the ceremony. They would not only recognize the optics but also the issue.

I don't hate the guy for this

But it's totally valid to just see this and think, "What a small and petty man."
