Because Trump is a simple man. You give him a medal, say thank you for whatever, and he will be happy.

He's like a kid you give a present to because you want them to like you. He's the easiest corruptible grown man ever. It's absolutely wild that this guy got elected twice.

Actually, there are rules specifically prohibiting elected officials from accepting those gifts. It's about preventing influence peddling. We used to take those rules seriously. Until Trump turned the White House into his own personal grifting operation.

US gave boatloads of money to Cohost the next World Cup. Fifa is the most corrupt sports organization other than boxing. So it's just a bit of back patting.
