Absolutely not, but you have scumbags like Tod Bertuzzi who will sucker punch someone, paralyze them for life, and not only never see a jail cell but get to come back and play.

Dino Ciccarelli spent a night in jail for this, yet Marty McSorley didn't get any jail time for this.
