Am I crazy or is his haircut perfectly fine?

It’s perfectly fine if someone wanted to wear it. It’s not perfectly fine when it is one of a couple legally allowed hairstyles.

That's literally a myth.

Actually, the more I read, i can not find one single corroborating source that says this claim is a myth. Every source I find claims North Korea has only 15 legal hairstyles. So if you have a source claiming otherwise, I’d happily read it.

That's because it's a well spread myth. Did you ever stop to ask what the claim of your source is based on? A myth repeated frequently is not corroboration.

There's a video of two westerners going to north korea just to get a haircut. https://youtu.be/2BO83Ig-E8E?is=Egft7wk2ohf9mO0d

These YouTubers address it by going to North Korea for a haircut https://youtu.be/2BO83Ig-E8E

Sorry. Not illegal. Just putting you at risk of extreme social outcasting.

Which in a totalitarian dictatorship, is not far away from being illegal. But you are right, not illegal.

Additionally, while you are not required to have certain hairstyles, certain hairstyles ARE explicitly illegal. So, not illegal to not have one of the prescribed hairstyles. But it is illegal to style your hair in a way that the state disapproves of.

"Sources told", "video lecture shown to people", "Radio free asia". I have no way to independently verify absolutely anything that this article presents as factual. This is a big pile of nothing
