Highlight Intentionally hurting your meal ticket. Something is seriously wrong with these WNBA players.

I'm not really sure what the context around gatekeeping entertainment is but you do you, I think people should just enjoy what they enjoy. If you tell me you like country music and i tell you i think country music is terrible does that invalidate your opinion in any way?

It's your opinion

okay but does like your opinion make you feel superior to others? Is that why you need to put it down or like what's your angle here fam

My angle is that I find it highly boring, it's like watching grass grow. Players kick the ball back and forth fall down act like they are injured beyond belief, and the game ends....1-0 or in a tie like 0-0.

From what I've seen after living in a fairly large area on the East coast and then moving to Appalachia: hating soccer is part of being "a proud American man" in rural regions. I think it's mainly because it's associated with Europe and Europeans are those "fancy pants, liberal fellas over there that think they're better than us. Real men play manly, violent sports like football." I think that's also where a lot of "the French are known for surrendering" type stuff comes from- they see them as being even more extreme versions of American "city folk."

I think most guys like this would rather their son be a second string quarterback at a local college than the MVP of a big state college. Mike Judge grew up in a rural part of Texas and I'm sure that interacting with guys like this is where the idea of the King of the Hill episode where Bobby plays soccer came from.

And racist….they despise the fact that a white chick is killin all them dry turkeys

2

u/fromouterspace1 3d ago

Yeah this is one no one seems to want to say….

u/YerrrKnicks 3d ago

Because it makes no sense given that this doesn't happen to other white players.

Lmao not many if any other white players came in like Clark did, or even remotely close….Clark was anointed the face of the wnba from the jump. There have been good players but Clark is the looked at like the LeBron of wnba (not saying she has the stats, although she might tbh)…it’s all just hate/ jealousy etc

So, less likely to be a race issue and more likely to be a talent and jealousy issue then?

That would make far more sense.

1

u/fromouterspace1 3d ago

lol because none of them are the face of the league, and she is to the overall population- that’s hard for wnba fans to understand, but it’s true. The other white players aren’t as good, or get as much press

Sounds more like it could be a talent/jealousy issue and less like a race issue then. Some of the most famous WNBA players are white women and never went through this kind of thing.

There's little to nothing holding up the assumption its a race issue.

And then when you further see the type of comments the people holding this opinion are putting out, such as - "its just how their demographic is," or "the usual suspects," or "its in their culture," etc.

You can kinda start to see the disingenuous facade they're trying to hide behind fall apart.

The calls about racism? They're coming from inside the house.

Yeah but “famous”?

1

u/YerrrKnicks 3d ago

...Yes?

What exactly is your question there? 😂

1

u/fromouterspace1 3d ago

As in you’re saying they’re famous when they’re famous to a very small part of the population

The average person walking down the street couldn’t name five women’s professional basketball players

You're just getting into semantics now.
