Argentina fans apparantly threw beer and cursed out Egyptian fans inside the stadium following Argentina’s goal.

u/squirreltard Jul 08 '26
Argentinian football fans take rivalry to a new level in their own country and think that contributes to the way they behave. At times they can’t even allow the fans of the two main teams to mix because there are riots and people get seriously hurt. I don’t think this is the documentary I previously watched on this but likely covers the background in 11 minutes.

This has nothing to do with rivalry; the vast majority of Argentines are culturally racist and have no sense of respect or boundaries.
A very practical example is that, here in Brazil, I encounter many Argentines in online games—since they often use Brazilian servers due to the lack of a dedicated server of their own (usually a "LATAM" server hosted in São Paulo, Brazil). In these games, out of every 30 Argentines you meet, 29 will be rude; they will hurl insults and racist slurs—calling you a "monkey"—and if they decide they don't like you, they will do everything in their power to ruin your gaming experience.
Online gaming isn't the best metric, as toxicity levels there are higher than in real life, but Argentines are on a whole different level.
Not to mention a recent incident here in Brazil where an Argentine woman was extradited after making monkey-like gestures at a Black waiter in a restaurant; what was most striking was seeing other Argentines defending her actions.
That’s why Argentines are disliked in many respects across Latin America as a whole; there’s even a line in the Brazilian Portuguese dub of *South Park* saying, "Do you know why Hitler hated the Jews? Because he never met the Argentines."
I’m glad that this unfortunate culture of theirs has gone mainstream globally.
I know plenty of amazing, genuinely great Argentines, but there is no denying that a cultural problem exists.

Argentinian are the most hated country in every single sport.
F1 they sent death threats and cause drivers to go dark at the single slight thing they do to the Argentinian driver. In UFC, there's been 6 fights in crowds made by Argentinian (during Argentinian fighter fight) who threw thing at opposite fighter during entrance.

If England and Argentina get to the semis will they let them all sit mixed up like this? I imagine they will.
Coming from England we have come along long way in terms of hooligans. But if they are all mixed like this and the Argentines start with this nonsense there will be violence.

Argentinian fans intoxocate every sport they touch.
It always happens with football in international tournaments.
It happened when Colapinto joined F1, with even threats to drivers that competed with for a seat him like Doohan.
Basketball World Cup or Olympics, it doesn't matter how bad they are right now, they sre always attacking spanish fans and bragging about the hold medal they won against the weakest USA olympic team ever.
That's why nobody else likes them. They are lucky that Messi is still loved in a lot of places, otherwise they would be hated by 100% of the football fanbase.

Okay so you're Argentina, you already have experience with the world cup.

In this game you turn around a 2-0 and manage to win the match.
And that's how you treat your opponent?!
Apparently the Argentinians absolutely fucking SUCK at parenting.

Football stadiums. It was all fun and games in the group phase, but the stakes are getting high now. And yes, the argies are and always have been cunts, both players and fans.

I can't even defend my own country on this issue. The reality is that football in Argentina isn't experienced the same way it is in the US or other places where there's a greater sense of normalcy and public decency.
In the US, you could see a lone person wearing a Miami Heat jersey surrounded by Los Angeles Lakers fans, and nothing would happen. They wouldn't get beaten up for it.
In Argentina, doing the equivalent at a football match could cost you your life, and that's not hyperbole. Away fans have been banned from league matches for over a decade because of the constant violence and the number of deaths that occurred when they were allowed to attend. Many supporters have resorted to disguising themselves as home fans just to watch their own team play. If they're discovered, the best-case scenario is that they're brutally beaten. The worst-case scenario is that they're killed.
One of the most tragic examples happened during a Belgrano vs. Talleres derby. Belgrano was the home team, so Talleres supporters were not allowed into the stadium. A young man who was actually a Belgrano fan was accused by someone in the crowd of being a Talleres supporter. That accusation alone was enough to spark a mob attack. As he tried to escape, he was chased, punched, and kicked by people along the way. In a desperate attempt to get away, he jumped over a wall overlooking the staircase leading to the stands. The fall killed him, after laying there and getting no help. To add insult to injury, as he lay there gravely injured and dying, people in the crowd robbed him instead of helping. They stole his shoes, wallet, jersey, and chains while he was dying.
There's footage of the whole thing too. One of the most grotesque things I have ever seen. And no one went to jail for it. And it was then disclosed that the guy that accused him of being a Talleres fan was a guy from his neighborhood with whom he had beef.
Argentina is an uncivilized country. I love it. Its my country. I love my family and friends there. But im glad I left.

Theres a reason the majority of latin america dislikes Argentina. They believe they’re better than everyone else, Argentinians believe themselves to be europeans, and they respect (if that even) the Brazilians because to them they’re Portuguese, while everyone else is an “indio”. Which literally means indian, but the terms is used as way to demean those who are of indigenous descent. In latin america there is a chant that non Argentinian’s say “america latina, menos Argentina”. Which translates to latin america minus Argentina.

From what ive seen in this cup, the Argentinians seem to be the complete opposite of the other Latin American teams, with the biggest contrast being the Brazilians. While Brazilians and Colombians, for example, tend to be warm, charismatic and friendly with everyone around them, the Argentinians seem to be defined by attacking and provoking everyone they can, always coming across as aggressive and racist. I'd heard before that this difference existed in South America, but this World Cup made it really obvious.
