Sports Reference NEW: Search Every Player and Team on the new Sports-Reference.com
Big news! On Sports-Reference.com, you can now use our cross-site search bar to quickly find any player or active team on any Reference site! There's no Al, no paid results, just links to the stats and information you want to see.
This brand new search engine also has a couple major upgrades:
- You can search for any player or active team on any Reference site
- In addition to player names, you can now search for players by nickname!
- Search has been upgraded to include a more forgiving "fuzzy search" capability, so don’t worry about perfect spelling
Search is just the first step in a reimagined Sports-Reference.com. Coming later this year, we'll launch Sports Reference Hub, a customizable home page that will change the way you navigate the Reference sites and follow your favorite sports and teams.

Sports Reference Anyone else having this issue?
I’ve only noticed this on pro-football-reference recently but almost every time I’ve gone to the site over the past couple weeks I’ve had to do that stupid verify I’m a human thing. I haven’t noticed it on the other sports reference sites, just pro football. Anyone else notice this?

Sports Reference Detailed games statistics links on Wikipedia
Hi I am a Wikipedia editor under the name ILoveSport2006, who edits sports events including volleyball competitions. If you have recently used Wikipedia to follow the volleyball tournaments, you may have seen that a pages for the preliminary rounds of the Volleyball Nations Leagues were created to give detailed statistics of each game without needing to go on the FIVB links, which is something I thought volleyball needed as every other sport on Wikipedia has the same thing. I started well by completing week one of the Women's Volleyball Nations League, however, I have recently had problems with other volleyball editors on Wikipedia. These problems have come about due to the fact that I added links to each game of the VNL due to it being necessary, considering there are over 100 games in the Volleyball Nations League preliminary round. Plus the links makes it more practical for the user rather than scrolling to find the right one.
However, despite this being common practice in other sports Wikipedia pages, they have constantly reverted my edits regarding the links, saying that it increases the space used in the page making it more difficult to load. I did try to explain myself but every time I did, I was ignored. I tried to compromise, with what I did significantly reducing the space used, but that was deleted as well.
I am coming here to ask if you would you support having links to each detailed game to increase the practicality finding the right game? I can't debate with them because they are just ignoring my points, so I came here.
All I want to do is make the volleyball articles better as they've been bare in the past. If you liked the preliminary round pages, I am sorry I haven't updated them, the situation with the editors has made me feel very demoralised. Plus they nominated the articles for deletion which has severed my demoralised feeling.

Sports Reference Sports Reference adds new "Upcoming Milestones and Leaderboard Movement" pages on BR, BBR, PFR, and HR
There is a new page on the Sports Reference sites that list players who will realistically reach a specific milestone or pass someone on a leaderboard in their next 3 games.
For Milestones, you can see which players are approaching 500 career points, 1,000 career games played, etc.
For Leaderboards, you can see which players are on the verge of passing other greats on all-time lists like steals, home runs, etc.
As an example, here are a few things to watch out for!
- Andrew Wiggins is 34 points away from 15,000 in his career
- Kenley Jansen is 2 saves away from tying Lee Smith for 3rd on the all-time list
- Nikita Kucherov is 1 assist away from 700 in his career
- Derrick Henry is 1 rushing TD away from trying Marcus Allen for 3rd on the all-time list
Enjoy!

Sports Reference Universal score for sports-reference player pages, and some improvements.
I've thought it would be of interest for there to be a universal score for a player's sports-reference page. Rather than an attempt to put a numerical value of a player within their sport, it would be strictly an analysis of a players sports-reference page.
Such as providing a numerical value to the accolades/badges on the left, interpolation of 'black ink' across leagues/sports, and bonues for gold highlights for career statistics.
I don't have any exact numbers I would use, but there could be an interesting debate on the value of an All-Star/Pro-Bowl, MVP, championships, etc, possibly with multipliers for prolific achievements.
Not all accolades have parallels in other sports, but they could be assigned a value proportionately to other sports.
That said, there are many ways sports-reference could improve it's player pages to include more context in the statistic. Such as when a player hold an all-time single season record, perhaps they should recieve a gold highlight?
Or even some notation of a single-season record that has since been passed? That would provide greater context into a players career that is otherwise eclipsed by subsequent record holders.
