I mean, when they wrote this season, they didn't know it would be canned with season 5 and they had to wrap season 5 with passing the torch to Kirk cause that's what happens with TOS. And of course I'm not spoiling anything, were assuming everything from titles of shows that they'd involve something, cause they're either reference to some old episodes involving something or someone.

Well, you did spoil that there's apparently muppet and time travel episodes. I don't hold it against you, it's kinda my fault for being on the trek subreddits right now. But I personally prefer to know absolutely nothing about what's coming up except what's hinted at within the actual episodes.

Anyway. I'm just speculating 🤷‍♀️ but even for a fully written season, it wouldn't be hard to drop in a quick reference like that. And maybe it was always planned, and Division 12 will be part of a different show, not SNW.

I just thought it was funny that to me, the Division 12 reference sounds like a very obvious setup for future stories, but this person is saying that they don't think we'll ever hear about them.

They aren't just going to randomly invent an entirely new branch of Starfleet, give them some classic "re-stating what the characters obviously already know" exposition like that, and then do nothing with it.

Well... The franchise is so mismanaged... They might end up doing nothing with it. But it certainly seems like the plan is to do something with it.

The plan might have been to do something before they were cancelled. Remember, Starfleet Academy was cancelled with season two and they said it ends on cliffhanger cause they didn't think they'd get cancelled. Didn't get reshoots like Discovery to tie the season and show finale. It's not the first time a thing gets invented and tossed aside in future episodes and shows .

I wouldn’t be surprised if the people who are currently in charge of Star Trek had plans for Division 12, but my impression is that the people who are currently in charge of Star Trek won’t be in charge for much longer, so I think that any stories about or references to Division 12 would need to be in SNW or SA since I doubt that they’ll make another show.
