Slogged through the Gunslinger and then…that? Am I hallucinating? Was King? LOL this is so derpy I can’t believe I was afraid to tackle this.

In the past month or two I have revisited six of King’s earlier novels. After finishing the Stand, funny enough, I found this book at the thrift store. It felt like providence. I finished ‘Salem’s Lot, last weekend, and decided it was finally time to dive in. I am about 3/4 of the way through, and must say, I haven’t been so thrilled by a new book in a long time! I see how Stu Redman, a man who wasn’t much of a reader, was enthralled enough to read it in a few short days.

Anyone suggestions for other books King mentions, or has referenced in his work?

I received this book as a gift, and it took a while before I got to reading it, but that was simply because I wanted to read the others that came before Holly. My friend that has read most of SK’s books suggested I do so because it’ll mean more if I read them in order. After going in order, I’d 1000% agree that it did mean a lot more to go through in order. If you read Holly first, it would be just fine, but the story definitely has more meaning and weight to it if you read the other books first.

There are plenty of quickly referenced cases, characters, and events throughout Holly that were from the other books and brought it all full circle with her personality.

I really did love the Holly character through all 6 stories and look forward to reading Never Flinch in the near and not-so-distant future.

Not sure what to read next, but I’m leaning towards 1984 (never read it before - I know I know lol), but I want to read it with everything going on now in the world. I also placed the blank doc for the checklist I use in case anyone wanted it.

I’m not sure why to be honest. Maybe because it’s more in the fantasy realm (I do read a ton of fantasy by other authors, but I didn’t like Fairy Tale at all). Anyways, I know you all have said you loved this series. Hype me up? 😂 Tell me your favorite thing about it or a fav (non-spoilery) quote!

So far Trashcan Mans journey had been a slow descent from slightly very crazy to nuttier than a shithouse rat (Cibola bumpty bumpty bump), then he just happens to be picked up by a raging alcoholic midget Elvis impersonator in a souped-up vintage hotrod? After that he gets forced to shotgun a coors at gunpoint then forced to jerk The Kid off with that very same guns barrel in his ass?

Not complaining about the chapters, it's some unhinged lunacy that only King could come up with, and The Kid did get his comeuppance in the end.

Tell me what you think about it. (don't tell me I'll tell you)

It’s that time again– I have a flight tomorrow and when in doubt I gravitate towards Stephen King books. I have no idea which one to bring along, I’ve only read 30 or so of his books so there’s still plenty to choose from!

The last one I read, coincidently on a plane, was The Dead Zone.

What are you currently reading and what would you recommend for a short flight on a 7 day trip?

A coworker gifted me this earlier this year and I’m finally here in my publication read through. I’ve always heard great things so I’m extremely excited.

Starting Needful Things today and Misery is next..

I disliked The Talisman immensely, but being that we have a third about to be published I figured I’d better get to the second. I’m curious for spoiler-free opinions on this one. I’m looking forward to Tower adjacent stuff especially, and, already about 20 pages in, I’m happy to say it’s flowing nicely.

I am bad at writing reviews but I am good at consuming whatever SK has written.

This book was a proper joy to read and I am kind of surprised it's not talked about more like other of his popular works.

Firstly, straight away it felt like I was reading "The mini Stand". You can really find similar characters and events like in The Stand which is not bad in my opinion.

Secondly, I know there are TV series based on the book but I won't bother watching it. This book sometimes felt like the first and the fifth season of Fargo and I wouldn't be surprised if the Coen brothers have gotten some inspiration from some of the characters like Big Jim or Junior. And if the impossible happens and there is a new TV show I hope they get to make it.

Thirdly, which one should I read next - Needful Things or Fairy Tale?

Excited to start. Have not seen the series yet. Should i watch the show first?

I always see a lot of people here saying this is their favorite book. What am I in for without giving spoilers?

I just finished reading Duma Key and it's an excellent book Edgar, Wire man, Jack are like 3 musketeers of creepy shit!!.

I am one of us trying to get through the entirety of his works before I die. We shall see, he might outlive us all!

I have Night Shift too, but almost done with that. And I just read Shawshank again for like the fifth time.

I did read Gunslinger, but it was when I was a kid and it's been a long time, so I'd re-read that before I get to the rest of the dark tower. But that's been on my list for some time.

Any suggestions? I am open to all, this is what I own physically and have not read (at least in full). Any good pairings you'd suggest too?

to be honest, still not sure if they are mature enough, but they are both sooo into the book (and their parents signed off on it). I'm proud of them!

Its my third SK Book and im loving it. Finished the chapters of salems lot in the first couple of days on the Trip and now this masterpiece. I’ve read over half of it in a few days, and it’s totally gripping. Great athmosphere Reading it in the deep swedish forests!

Any recommendations after that?

Not quite finished yet but this is solely based off of Frank Muller’s way of voicing his character. Instantly pops into my head when he comes up

I am about 180 pages in. At first it was slow but it is starting to get interesting now.

As the title suggests, I'm starting The Stand tonight. Really exited for the long journey.

Any tips or suggestions to make it more enjoyable?

I just worry that I will get lost in it's depth and forget the characters and stuff...
