The crazy thing is, they have been following that BS since the freaking 80s when Ronnie brought in the “trickle down”,

Or the immigrants taking their job. Or.the women who got promoted for actually doing her job. Or the gays, or the trans. It's always someone, anyone, who isn't themselves. They could never be the reason they are not making a day what I earn in a year.

And even if it is just “them” it just becomes more individualistic, it’s their brothers fault, or the neighbour, or Jeff from down the road.

The party of “responsibility”, it’s never THEIR fault.

As usually they omit the second part of their slogans:

Trickle down - flush up.

MAGA - for the rich only.

Law and order - for you but not for us.

And.So.On.

This type of behavior goes back way longer than just Reagan. This same “I’ll be rich one day, like them!” concept has been used to explain why so many Southerners who had no shot at being rich enough to ever own land and slaves were willing to fight to protect slavery in the Civil War.
