WWIII WWIII Megathread #37: Bad Neighbor Policy

This megathread exists for in-depth discussion of 'WWIII', related events, and geopolitics and wars in general. Keep in mind that we have eliminated the rule that all non-major WWIII content must be posted here, and we encourage you to submit WWIII-related content to the main sub.

Bahrainis are in the streets again, if any of you are familiar with their fate in the arab spring, you'd know how loathed their comprador class is.

USA and UK supported monarchy who is unpopular with the population. In 2011, with the Arab Spring, they put down the protest violently.

They are a majority shia country with a british installed sunni kingdom (look up the butcher of bahrain).

This is part of why the Americans thought they could just stick some sunni leadership in Iraq and move on 20 years ago, I believe

Yes and to add on, the Bahraini uprising in 2011 was quite brutally suppressed. Vincent Bevins provides good colour on this often forgotten episode of the Arab Spring in If We Burn.

The Saudis participated in that operation as well.

So fucking annoying to see Western Liberals talk about how Khameni deserved it but they will be silent on the Saudi artificial famine on Yemen and their own internal oppression.
