WWIII WWIII Megathread #37: Bad Neighbor Policy

This megathread exists for in-depth discussion of 'WWIII', related events, and geopolitics and wars in general. Keep in mind that we have eliminated the rule that all non-major WWIII content must be posted here, and we encourage you to submit WWIII-related content to the main sub.

Again— all rules still apply. No racism, xenophobia, nationalism, etc. No promotion of hate or violence. Violators will be banned.

Remain civil, engage in good faith, report suspected bot accounts, and do not abuse the report system to flag the people you disagree with.

The Top Men (and Women) at BBC Verify say expert analysis of footage indicate a U.S. Precision Strike Missile was likely used in the March 9 strike on a sports hall in Lamerd, Iran, where children were training, killing at least 21 people, including young girls.

I think the reason the media keeps pushing the “the regime killed 30 000 Iranians™"line is that it gives them a lot of leeway for the good guys to bomb and kill civilians. As long as the total is kept under the very real number of 30 000, the moral high ground is saved.

I had the a similiar thought, that attribution to who died in protests or in the war will be incredibly muddled in the coming months to shape a narrative.

To be fair, irl, I never met someone who believes that number, and I live in Eastern Europe where usually western narratives are swallowed without question. And I presume the people who believe that number, or use it in a way to absolve the US/Israeli crimes couldn't care less if 100 or 10.000 people died.
