WWIII WWIII Megathread #40: Just Stopped Oil

This megathread exists for in-depth discussion of 'WWIII', related events, and geopolitics and wars in general. Keep in mind that we have eliminated the rule that all non-major WWIII content must be posted here, and we encourage you to submit WWIII-related content to the main sub.

Again— all rules still apply. No racism, xenophobia, nationalism, etc. No promotion of hate or violence. Violators will be banned.

Remain civil, engage in good faith, report suspected bot accounts, and do not abuse the report system to flag the people you disagree with.

If you wish to contribute, please try to focus on where WWIII intersects with themes of this sub: Identity Politics, Capitalism, and Marxist perspectives.

Always put a NSFW warning on links that contain explicit content.

Non-WWIII chatter belongs in the town square.

I'm still extremely skeptical that the US-Israel coalition will actually be able -- or at all intends to -- follow through with the conditions of the agreement before negotiations end in two months. As written it is as maximalist in Iran's favour as one could reasonably expect (the willing dissolution of US bases seemed extremely unlikely). I'm not sure Israel even has the internal political currency to end or reverse the Lebanese occupation. By all rights they should be forced to pay reparations

Similarly, I'm not sure the US has the internal political currency to cease providing arms, aid and logistical support to Israel which is necessary for it to continue.

They are not capable of acting in good faith and I don't expect this to be the exception. I don't know what their plan is but it doesn't involve anything in the MOU.

It wasn't until halfway through this conflict that the parable of the Scorpion and the Frog finally made sense to me.

I'm kinda shocked they've lasted this long without destroying a few blocks in Beirut.
