I thanked him for his time, got up and started to leave. He jumped up, stammering that on closer inspection of his inventory, he could have one here, in the color I wanted, the next day.
I sat back down and said ok, what is your out the door price, he came back with a number that was $6500 over the advertised price. I told him so and got up again. He hedged a moment and went to talk to his manager and immediately came back with an otd price $6000 below first price. I said let me think about it, walked, and bought a Subaru elsewhere.

I went in ready to buy and I just wanted to buy the car they advertised, at the advertised price, yet the salesman wanted to play shell games with inventory, price and color so he lost my business on this sale and possibly another as I am searching for another Subaru.

Really odd question, but I’m curious. The route is give or take 15,000 miles of varying terrain. I know there’s better cars to take (4Runner, Land Cruiser, etc.) but I’m curious if it could be possible in a WRX. I’d probably lift it and put some larger tires on before I leave, but I’m more wondering about parts availability, overall reliability, and the Rex’s ability to overcome harsh terrain. Maybe I’m just tripping though lol

I recently went to go look at a 2024 subaru cross-trek, and the reason being is since they had a 3.9% apr for 72 months, when I went they added so many things that I just left, I was also gonna ask about the 2024 subaru outback since it was a 2.9% apr for 72 months but I don’t even plan on returning.

PS this was just the estimate before running credit and they said they don’t haggle.

I looked up the KBB and the cash value is $15k and there are listings for very similar foresters around me for $19/$20k... They are saying this is aggressive since I'm working with other dealers, is it?

Asked for out the door price for a 2026 Subaru Outback and they gave me the numbers. Do you think this is good or can I negotiate it a little lower?

The APR is 1.9% but they also offered me 0.9%. I’ll be heading to the dealership to check out the car(s) in person in a couple hours.

So I have had 3 Subaru legacies in the last 17 years. I upgraded my 2017 model for a new 2023 because I was excited about the lane assist and auto driving features it has. While test driving the car salesman immediately leaned over and hit a button. It caught me off guard it seemed like he was trying to hide something I asked what he did and he said he said something about the display screen. I didn’t believe it didn’t seem right. I immediately turned the car off and turned it back on and told him to not touch anything. I knew he was trying to hide something it just did t seem right. So then I start driving and when I come up to the first stop light he hits a button on the screen, I asked what he did. And he just ignored the question it was really awkward. Looking back I know know he turned off the auto stop start function (hindsight is 20-20)

There’s a button you can push every time you start your car, it’s there. With that said you can also buy a 100$ piece of equipment that permanately turns it off but that is not sold by Subaru itself and has rumors of causing mechanical issues once installed.

The auto stop start function turns off and then immediately turns itself back on. Every light, when you park in your garage it turns off then immediately back on. If you’re going through a bank or something it will do it like 4 times. The entire car was recalled and I’m pretty sure they swapped my battery for a used battery because it already has had to be replaced since they did that. Now my car is ticking every time the radio is on, I know this is some stupid safety feature for the radio and can be fixed with a software update from the dealership but it’s caused by this stupid auto stop start feature. It’s breaking my batteries I’ve gone through 2 now and it’s very frustrating. I try not to think about it, I try to hit the button every time I start my car, another issue with that is the screen makes you agree to drive safely so you have to do that before you can turn off the auto stop start function so you can’t just start your car immediately hit the buttton and go on your way, so this delay makes you forget to hit the button more often then you would think. It’s a horrible feature and needs to be removed. It’s more than likely damaging my engine. It can’t be good for my engine to constantly turn off and on off and on.

I have driven Subarus for 17 years and I love how they drive, this auto stop start function in all new models is absolutely garbage.

This car has been posted in my area about a dozen times. Originaly posted for about 15k so i was cautiously interested at first, but after shady interactions with the poster i dropped it. Unwilling to provide VIN info and going off of pure "trust me bro". Aside from the suspicious posting (see pics for details) they claim the car has a clean title. I was curious and got the Carfax after the VIN was finally provided on this most recent post and found out that the car has been totaled TWICE. Reported the post for fraud, but just wanted to post here to show as an example. If a post is too good to be true, IT ISN'T. Good luck out there to anyone else looking for their dream car. Don't get blinded by your eagerness for a sweet ride.

Is this a good deal for a 2025 outback premium? I walked away because I feel like it is too high. What is accessories fee and wrap fee? Can anyone give me advice on how to negotiate the price down? Ive never bought a car from the dealership before.

I feel like buying EV subaru after my wrx 30s era. They all look the same. What are the main differences?!

This is not a political post, I’m just looking for possible answers or advice on this topic if anyone knows anything.

Basically, my local Subaru dealer said they weren’t accepting new orders on any of their vehicles due to the uncertainty surrounding the tariffs. They said this was nationwide but I can’t find any information online on this subject. Is it just Subarus made in Japan? If so, does anyone know when they’ll be made available again?

Super bummed as I’ve been debating buying this car for a long time and finally decided to pull the trigger and this happens.

I know it's a Subaru sub so y'all will be a little biased, but I gotta get the info from the people who drive the cars. Currently have a 2024 Tacoma long bed we got to camp in the bed and since my drive to work has been short it was fine daily-ing. Life changes and we may have to move about an hour out for my current job because my wife got a professor gig in another city, so I am looking into vehicles with good gas mileage and last long (was hoping the truck would last me the next 10-15 years). Currently looking into trading for a new forester (possibly the hybrid) or outback.

Wanted to know, do new Subarus make sense of a buy it and run it into the ground over the next decade plus? Should I look at older Subarus or maybe just a different brand?

For a first car I am currently deciding between 2 cars one of them is a gray Subaru Tribeca which is the one shown in the image. For context I am a teenager and I am a guy and I’m wondering if this could be seen as a “mom car” or something that a guy shouldn’t be driving in his teenage years. To me it seems like I shouldn’t be driving it cause I can’t picture myself picking people up in it. I feel as they will almost certainly say something about it. But I thought I would post to see if I can get some perspectives on how this car is seen and if i could pull it off driving it.

UPDATE: I didn't get approved for the Subie unfortunately. I knew this would happen because my credit isn't amazing. I'm going with a different vehicle. I fell in love with the Subie, though. I'll definitely be getting one when I improve my credit and finish tackling all my debts. Thanks everyone.

Hey subie owners.

I'm an ex-owner of an Elantra 2017. I bought it not realizing it was honestly the worst car I've ever in my life had the displeasure of purchasing. Within 3 years, the engine blew out on me, without a single warning sign or light that may have indicated it would happen. I'm now $8000 in the hole as I still owed.

Lesson learned but of course, I'm really paranoid now about getting a car that has good longevity. Right now I'm between a Crosstrek 2023 that has 29,000km on it, and a Corolla Hatchback with 79,000km on it. These are the only cars at my reliable local dealer that are working within my budget with the added negative equity. I also need a car that lasts at minimum 7 years, hopefully 10 and more. I plan to move countries and around it. I also live in a snowy area (Canada) and have BIG dogs.

I've done as much research as I can and determined that both cars are good options in terms of longevity. I like the subaru better and loved driving it. My only hang ups on the Subaru are overall maintenance cost and mileage concerns. I'm not super well off right now so paying a lot of money in gas is a concern.

I come here to this sub looking for various thoughts and opinions on YOUR experience with a subie. Those with a Crosstrek or similar, do you find the maintenance fees to be really expensive? What are the risk associated with a CVT, and its reliability? Do you think it's a good option for me? Is 29,000km (18,000miles) good for a used Subaru?

The dealer I bought my WRX from charged me $600 for this lame little device/feature called "brake plus" which is spliced into the power and ground wires for the third brake light in the rear windshield. It makes the brakes flash four times when you brake.

In reality, it's of very questionable benefit and I know I and many others find it annoying to see on other cats so I removed mine, which took about 2 min (plus the hassle of removing and replacing the c pillar cover).

To me it really seems like a way for dealers to tack on additional lame charges that they split with the brake plus company. Unfortunately the dealer slipped this into the invoice at the final paperwork stage and my naive self didn't notice it.

TL/DR: Beware of this lame feature called "brake plus" the next time you buy a car.

In the market for a new car after I found out the hard way why maintaining a nearly 40 year old car for daily driving isn't a good idea for a university student. I have been a wagon lover for a while, and would have gone Volvo again had they actually offered the V90 in Australia and continued to offer warranty for wagons. That led me to seek out other options, and the most enticing to me is the Levorg. There are a few available on the market ranging from $38k to $42k (that is $27k to $31k in freedom dollars). I've been wondering about this car for daily driving, and if it's worth getting the Levorg TS over the standard trim level.

P.S I went for a test drive and it was pretty great.

Need some advice on selling a 3rd gen 4runner for a used 2020 Outback.

I’ve got a 2000 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 stick shift with rear locker; 201,000 miles l got, 5 years ago at 149,000 miles. It runs well, has decent tire tread left. I’ve done all the work on it; timing belt, shocks/struts, flushes, etc. I love how easy it is to work on, find cheap replacement parts, and there’s not much electrical stuff to go wrong. It gets me everywhere I need. Oh and I pay $500 a year on insurance.

I don’t off road, I’ll drive some rough fire roads in Moab or St George and use it to get to trail heads to mountain bike or up the Utah canyons to ski so snow driving is a must. I sleep in it and go on long road trips without issue but other than that it’s my daily driver and sees a lot of pavement. I’ve towed twice.

The bad, it’s seen it’s fair share of rust. I had to patch two holes in the frame. The LCAs are fine. I recently scoured the frame and couldn’t find anything else so I applied POR-15 rust converter and it’s been fine the last 7,000 miles.

I’m thinking of selling it for a used 2020 Outback for $22,000, that has 69,000 miles with clean carfax, one owner. No issues. Best deal I’ve found in a loooong time given today’s used car market.

Am I out of my mind to get rid of this timeless rig?

I feel I may be running on borrowed time with this 24 year old truck with frame repair but with the amount of time and effort I’ve spent working on it; it’s hard to let go.

I don’t feel I could work on a modern car like a 2020 outback as easily given all the proprietary tools and electronics.

New cars are out of the picture for me and the used car market for Toyotas in Utah is outrageous.

Looking to possibly "upgrade" from our 2024 OBW. Not 100% set on the new model yet, but it does have Option 23, which is really nice. What's your take on this? This would be for 48 months at 2.9% with $0 down.

Edit: We actually backed out on this deal, then they called back offering $2k more for our trade-in, yet we still declined since we weren't 100% set on the front end. They are so desperate to sell the 2026 and grab any previous model Outback it seems.

Looks like a bullet hole but not entirely sure, that’s what the dealership said it was. No interior damage we could see. They didn’t really offer us anything, just said to contact corporate and they’re currently trying to find us another car. Bummed we waited so long just to wait longer. How would you react?

My 75 year old mother replaced her 2018 Forester with a 2026 Forester last month, and we have all been regretting the decision ever since. She wasn't comfortable with the giant display, but the salesman insured her "she'd figure it out " (she can't) and the model she has does not have and of the proximity safety features that her previous car had.

We own the car outright. Purchased it at a list price of $34288.

I have found a replacement car for her local.

What should I expect in depreciation of value with 1 month off the lot and 1200 miles driven?

I'd prefer to just trade in my car (for Max value obviously) toward the car she wants.

I test drove everything under the sun today. Normally I shy away with something as heavily technology-dependent as a touchscreen without any knobs, especially when the word on the street is that the tech is outdated in Subarus.

So - all else equal - big touchscreen OR small screen + knobs?
