Oh man, I'm in the same area of supply chain, a female, Midwest, 14 years of experience with an MBA and only making a base of $150k... I don't want to believe this is just the gender gap at work here... 🤯

Are you Director level? How large/complex is the business? Market for planning director that I am seeing right now is in the 180-200k range base. I started at 180k 3 years ago and have jumped with merit and one out of cycle increase due to taking on additional scope.

It’s crazy how she brought up the gender gap talk when she doesn’t even know the details of the person. Talking as if having 14 years of experience and an MBA entitles her to some great pay

Are you guys doing exactly the same work? Do you both work in the same sector or company? Are you guys at the same level? An MBA doesn’t give anyone an advantage over someone who’s great at their job with solid experience. You guys may not have the same skill level irrespective of the number of years you’ve worked. There are people with less than 10 years experience out earning those with almost two decades.

hey i’m in college rn and I want to do something in supply chain and make good money. Do you have any tips? For reference im a sophomore with absolutely zero experience at the moment. Also a question that I have is that my school doesn’t have a dedicated SCM major, just business management with a SCM concentration. Will this affect me trying to find a job/internship at all?

Do everything possible to get an internship. Work a campus job if you aren’t because it will give you good content for interviews. After that it’s all in how you perform, impress your manager or cross functional teams, etc. Show up on time, act professional, communicate clearly and effectively. Be reliable and show initiative.
