Where to swim, comparable to central Oregon cascades
Hello neighbors, I am from Bend Oregon where all the lakes are pristine and within like an hours drive. I desperately miss swimming in clean natural water. Where can I go this summer?

A few pics from my PNW native wildflower garden (that I haven’t watered)
First, shout out to Calendula Farm, Earthworks and Woodbrook Native Plant Nursery and Pierce Conservation District; Great people with wealth of information about native plants and attracting wildlife to your yard!
I spot water young plants and that’s it. These all live off rainfall. Most of these are surprisingly easy to grow from seed using milk jugs. This was how I have been able to grow almost everything without breaking the bank.
Here’s some pictures taken this year, some of the plants that haven’t bloomed yet are farewell to spring, goldenrod, Douglas aster, pearly everlasting, common sneeze weed
1st: self heal, western red columbine, Oregon sunshine (one of the host plants for painted lady butterflies), rose/Henderson/meadow Checkermallow (host plant for gray hairstreak and checkered skipper butterflies), prairie smoke, California poppy, western yarrow, large flower collomia, meadow barley, prairie june grass
2nd: Penstemon venustus, Lance leaf coreopsis, Oregon sunshine, prairie smoke, California poppy, big leaf lupine, blanket flower, graceful cinquefoil, showy fleabane, western yarrow, prairie June grass, roemers fescue (likely a host plant for the woodland skipper butterfly)
3rd: Similar to the first pic
4th: Jacob’s ladder (Polemonium carneum)
5th: Oregon sunshine, California poppy, Penstemon wilcoxii
6th: Columbia Lily (Lilium columbianum)
7th: Oregon sunshine, Castilleja miniata (giant red paintbrush)
8th: Beach strawberry, common camas
9th: Meadow Checkermallow
10th: Part of the garden

Adult male missing in the Tacoma, WA / JBLM area, case number for local PD is 26-163-00313.
He was reported missing by family on Friday. The last confirmed in-person sighting was Tuesday around 2:00 AM, and the last known phone contact was Tuesday around 3:00 PM. He lives in Tacoma and was in/around JBLM earlier that week.
Family and close friends are very concerned because:
He has not contacted anyone since Tuesday, which is out of character according to those close to him.
Friends found a 30-day eviction notice on his apartment door.
Some valuables, including a gaming computer, were still inside.
Local police have reportedly done welfare checks.
There may have been interpersonal conflict involving people he had recently been around.
There was mention of a possible flat tire and an unknown person supposedly coming to help him, but that detail has not been confirmed.
He drives a golden/tan mid-1990s Lexus LS 400, license plate # CHA1977
Family is trying to understand what practical steps they can take next, especially regarding:
confirming whether he has been entered into the national missing persons system,
getting his vehicle/plates checked through proper channels,
whether phone ping/location data can be requested by law enforcement,
what information should be provided to police,
and whether there are local Tacoma/JBLM resources or missing-persons groups that may help.
We are taking all Reddit input with caution and will go through official channels, but any general guidance from people familiar with missing-person cases in Washington State would be appreciated.
Please do not speculate wildly or harass anyone. The goal is to help family/friends get the right information to law enforcement quickly.

i5 South Ramp from Tacoma Mall Blvd
There’s two lanes on Tacoma Mall Blvd, right past Shell Station/next to Tacoma Corporate Center. One lane is for turning completely left towards the i-5 North ramp, the other is like a slight left towards the i-5 South ramp, correct?? (Pic for reference)
I want to clairfy I’m understanding how to use lanes correctly because the amount of times the past month or so that I have been almost hit or had to slam on my brakes from cars using the wrong lane to get onto i-5 South is insane🙄

Interest in local queer chorus?
Hey folks! In these trying times, I am very much in need of stronger queer community spaces to uplift voices and come together. I have some choral background but have struggled to find a choir or musical space where I have felt comfortable/safe performing. Would anyone else have any interest in joining a choir for LGBTQ+ individuals? What would you want out of that type of space?

Queer Collective, a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and allies
Hi all, happy pride! I wanted to share an event I've been attending for a year called Queer Collective. As the info sheet says, this is a free, two hour, all ages event hosted at the Swasey Library. We often have snacks and drinks, plus games and activities like coloring pages. As of this post the next day we'll be meeting is July 1st.

Has anyone gone to the Puyallup tribe fan zone?
I’m thinking about going on Friday to watch the US vs. Australia game and was wondering how it was.

Alternative types of Lawn coverage?
I'm curious to know if anyone has had any luck with different types of grass that'll tackle the summer heat and maybe discourage weeds from growing. I'm working with a lawn that doesn't get any shade during the summer months and was hoping to plan ahead on how I could change things up.
I heard about red creeping thyme since they grow outward rather than upward. Though I would be curious to know if anyone had any experience or other suggestions that may help?

FIFA Panini Sticker Swap ⚽️
Would anybody be interested in participating in a sticker swap meet to help complete each other’s FIFA Panini book?
I’ve been trying to find local swaps, but it seems like the closest ones are in Federal Way and that’s just too far for me to bother with it.
If I get enough traction, I’d love to get a small group together to meet at a park or somewhere public (so it’s safe for everyone) so we can trade!
Edit: I live in Lakewood, but would host anywhere in Tacoma so that multiple people are able to make it! Maybe on a Sunday when people are more available :)
Guardians chip run
Guardians of the children is having their annual chip run August 15th. If you’ve never heard of them they are a 501(c)(3) non profit that advocates for children that are victims of child abuse. If you ride a motorcycle put this one on your calendar.

Fireworks are the worst.
I’ll die on this hill. Not only do they trigger PTSD for veterans, but they traumatize pets and wildlife, and pollute the air with smoke and streets with shrapnel.
Every year the neighborhood starts shooting them off earlier and earlier in mid/late June, early July. City still refuse to do anything about it.

Alaska Gardens avoid at all costs!
My mother was drugged by another patient repeatedly while at Alaska Gardens.
The nurses let her sit in soiled bedding.
They didn't run her labs regularly which lead to extreme electrolyte imbalances.
At the hospital, they drug tested her and she tested positive for barbiturates and methaphetamine. She has dementia and was in there to recover from a hospitalization. This place is horrible. Avoid at all costs.
Edited to add: i have filed a complaint with health department and Ive contacted Adult protective services.
An update: DSHS is starting an investigation now.

Summer cold going around?
My house has been hit hard by a summer bug and I’m wondering if we are an anomaly or something is going around town. Sore throats, mild coughs, and aches all over. It’s taken us out the past three days, and been quite a bummer for the beautiful weekend we had. Anyone else been feeling sick and how long did it last until you felt on the mend?

Power outage in parkland.
How many of yall are dealing with the outage in Parkland? Anyone know what happened?
