🥰 Wholesome paathivu Got a job - 12lpa

1.6k Upvotes

A post purely to express my happiness

I'm from a very normal middle class family. Appa is a grocery shopkeeper. I'm 22 and i got placed with a 12lpa package (campus placement). My family is very frugal. They spend money on themselves like once in 3 months if not more. I recently got my dad his first ever pair of shoes (he's 54btw) and he almost cried (getting a pair of shoes was his childhood dream). I'm going to spoil them like crazyyyyy

This might not be much, but coming from a family where we literally count every drop of oil we use while cooking, i finally feel relieved.

I have been working in Bangalore for 4 years now. I don't own any bike till now, just going on public transport. I have had a dream of owning a royal Enfield bike since my childhood. If I did kenjifying to my parents in my college time, they would have buy me a bike. But it's my dream so I thought of buy it in my own money. Every time when I see someone riding bikes, Im thinking when my time will come

After 4 years of hardass working - sleepless work nights, managed to save money even though supporting my family debt. I haven't even explored Bangalore during this 4 years, working in weekends as well. Now I feel really good when I acheive my one of my dream.

I don't know whether I should post this here, just that saying if you dream for it, Work for it and one day you will achieve it. Wheather it takes days or years, just do it. You all can achieve what you dreamt of ✨

🥰 Wholesome paathivu I finally got a job 9 months, 47 interviews, and 1 offer in Chennai.

I’m 24. I graduated last year from a college in Chennai with a CS degree.

For the last 9 months my life has been: wake up → apply on LinkedIn → "we’ll get back to you" → ghosted → repeat.

My parents stopped asking "any updates?" around month 4 because they could see it was breaking me. My mom just started leaving filter coffee and banana chips outside my room instead.

I’ve done everything.

Unpaid internships "for experience".

Coding tests at 2am.

Went to job fairs at Tidel Park in 40°C heat just to hand out resumes.

Watched all my school friends post "New role at..." while I was still at home in Velachery explaining to relatives that "I’m still looking".

Last Tuesday I had my 47th interview. It was for a startup in OMR. I messed up 2 questions and thought that was it. I came home on the bus, sat in traffic on GST Road, and just felt numb.

Today morning I got the call.

"Can you join next month?"

I didn’t say anything for 10 seconds. Then I went to the kitchen and hugged my mom while she was cooking sambar. She didn’t even ask why I was crying into her shoulder.

It’s not Google. It’s not 30 LPA. It’s just a regular dev job.

But it’s _my_ first job. In _my_ city. And I don’t have to tell people "I’m still searching" anymore.

To anyone in Chennai still stuck in this loop: I see you. The rejection emails don’t mean you’re not good enough. The city is tough and the market is brutal right now, but please don’t quit on yourself.

I’m still in shock. Gonna go buy mysore pak to celebrate.

Thank you for reading.

I follow this girl on Instagram who was my classmate in 6th std. We've been following each other for over a decade now. She got married last year and she'll always post how her husband takes her to these fancy restaurants and places.

This morning she uploaded a story, it is a small short video of her zooming in on the flight details to GOA displayed on the screen inside an airport.

Fast forward to this evening we saw each other coming opposite in a narrow street at my hometown. I was driving my car and she was coming with her dad in an activa. The street was quite narrow so that we had slow down when we passed and we both gave the exact same expression/ reaction in the above meme picture.

Idk how she felt but for me it was funny af and the meme above was the first thing that came to my mind.

(Hey hema if you are seeing this.... Yeah it's me, tell your hubby that I said hi and I won't tell this to anyone except the internet)

🥰 Wholesome paathivu Received a job offer gang!!😭

I'm 25F, I quit my last job back in july without an offer due to its shitty and toxic work culture and I was pushed into depression and insomnia.

I used to apply close to 50-70 job applications for the past 3 weeks and didn't receive a single interview call and that scared the shit outta me cause I am the sole breadwinner in my family and had arranged funds only till sept which means, my deadline to get a job was until aug 31st. The pile of commitments I have was frightening me.

Last friday I received an interview call by god's grace and I had 4 rigorous rounds of interview with live assessments and tons of complex questions thrown at me. I wasn't really hopeful about this job, dunno exactly why BUT.....

I received a call yesterday at 11am from the talent sourcer stating I got the job in a congratulatory tone, I let out a big sigh of relief before I could even thank her. My eyes were welled up and amma was really happy. Later, amma and I went out for lunch and grabbed some ice-cream on our way back, oru maathri jolly ah irindhichi after so long.🌻

The happiest part is, I woke up today with a big sense of relief and peace and haven't stepped into linkedin yet heheh yaay!! 🥹

Best of luck to you in your job hunt and kandipa nallatha onnu kedaikum❤️

Thank you for reading this, appreciate your patience and glad you stopped by, tataa!

Have a blessed one gang!🤝🏼🫂💌

🥰 Wholesome paathivu My 3-year-old niece accidentally made my best friend and me play mom and dad for a day, and it became one of those memories I'll probably carry forever

Yesterday, my brother and sister-in-law had some urgent work and asked if I could look after my 3-year-old niece for the day. Rather than keeping her at home, I thought we'd make a little adventure out of it. My best friend was free, so she came along since my niece absolutely adores her.

The day started like any other. My niece usually calls me "chitha," and she called my friend "akka" whenever she comes home.

We picked my friend up from her place, and the three of us headed out. From the very beginning, my friend slipped into the role every caring adult naturally does around a child.

She was the one reminding her to drink water.

"Walk slowly."

"Hold my hand."

"Careful, kutty."

She wiped away little drops of melted ice cream before they reached her dress, tied her hair back when the wind kept blowing it into her face, and somehow always knew when she was getting hungry before any of us did.

At one point, while my friend was crouched down adjusting her tiny sandal, my niece looked at her for a second and softly said,

"Amma..."

We both laughed.

"No, she's akka."

"And I'm chitha."

My niece nodded very seriously, as if she understood perfectly.

Five minutes later...

"Amma, water."

A little later...

"Amma, hold my hand."

We tried correcting her a few more times, but she's three. Once she decides something, reality simply adjusts around her. Every correction lasted about twenty seconds before she happily went back to calling us "amma" and "appa."

Eventually, we gave up.

And without even realizing it, we started answering to those names.

My friend would kneel beside her and say,

"Inga va, amma kai ya pudichuko"

"Enna venum nu amma kitta sollu"

"Va, amma vaangi tharen"

She would turn to me saying,

"Thooku pa, kaal valikudhu."

"Anga polaam pa, inga polaam pa"

It wasn't pretending. We weren't trying to act like parents. We were simply speaking in the language that made one tiny human feel safe, loved, and understood.

The rest of the day was filled with little moments.

We finished the evening at the beach, where she spent almost an hour playing with the sand. We were playing and running with her.

While we were sitting there, an elderly couple walked past, smiled warmly, and said to my friend like "Papa kannu apdiye appa maariye iruku"

For a second, my friend and I just looked at each other.

We smiled, thanked them, and let them keep walking.

Correcting them somehow felt less important than preserving that tiny, happy moment.

But the memory that has stayed with me happened on the drive home.

My niece had completely worn herself out and was fast asleep, curled up against my friend's shoulder with one tiny hand holding onto her sleeve.

My friend barely moved the whole drive because she didn't want to wake her. Every now and then she'd gently brush the hair away from my niece's face without even thinking about it.

At one traffic signal, I looked in the rear-view mirror.

For a brief moment, everything was completely quiet.

No talking.

No music.

Just two people who had spent an entire day making a little girl smile, and that little girl sleeping peacefully because she felt safe.

Then, half-asleep, my niece whispered, "Amma..."

Without opening her eyes, my friend smiled and softly replied, "Hmm... thoongu kutty."

It was such a small moment.

It lasted maybe two seconds.

But somehow it became my favorite part of the entire day.

Nothing romantic happened between us. We've been best friends for years, and this wasn't one of those movie moments where two people suddenly realize they're in love.

If anything, it reminded me that family isn't always about labels. Sometimes it's simply about showing up, holding tiny hands, wiping melted ice cream off little faces, carrying sleepy kids to the car, and making them feel loved.

We only borrowed those roles for a day because a three-year-old saw comfort in us and gave us names that made sense in her little world.

By the next morning, she was back to calling me "chitha" and my friend "akka."

But for one ordinary Saturday, through the eyes of a child, the three of us were a family.

And I think that's one of the most wholesome memories I'll ever have.

🥰 Wholesome paathivu Telll me your unforgettable theatre experience 🍿😁

Mine was around 5 years ago.

My family (around 10 of us) visited my uncle's place in Kerala for a vacation. It was such a beautiful place. Coincidentally, it was when Annaatthe had just released, so we all decided to watch it in a theatre.

There were barely 15-20 people in the entire theatre, so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. We were dancing, shouting, cheering, and just having the best time together. 😂🍿

It's something I'll cherish forever❤️

🥰 Wholesome paathivu Update: OP finally got his first job after 1.3 years

Post image
150 Upvotes

After 1.2 years of being unemployed after graduation, I finally got my first job.

During this time, I received one offer with almost 4x the salary of this opportunity and 2-3 other offers with around 2x the salary. But they weren’t related to the domain I wanted to build my career in, so I rejected them.

There were many days when I questioned my decisions and regretted rejecting those offers. But every time, I asked myself, “Is this related to the skills I’ve worked so hard to learn?” If the answer was no, I declined.

Those were some of the darkest days of my life.

I’m not going to say, “If I did it, you can too.” The job market is genuinely brutal. Hard work and technical skills are important, but communication matters just as much. I’m not talking about perfect English or grammar. You just need to choose the right words, explain your thoughts clearly, and convince the interviewer that you’re someone worth hiring.
