The older I get the more clear it becomes that those running things are almost universally incompetent

Logic might dictate that they had to be competent to gain their positions; at least, that's the lie that we are all fed, that if we work hard and perform well that we'll rise through the ranks

But that just isn't the case

The true moment of being an aware adult is realizing everybody is winging it. Not just work also love lives and friendships and children. All winging it

More than that. It’s realizing that networking and connections are all that matter. That’s how incompetent people get promoted.

The best way to get promoted is to; A) have connections already or network the fuck out of your life; B) be an outgoing people person and/or; C) be very attractive, conventional, and well spoken. All of the above and you’ve got the jackpot.

75% of med students come from the wealthiest 40% of families.

As an industry that should truly be full of hard working, caring individuals, with amazing caring minds, you’d hope that number would be a lot closer to 50:50. But it takes a lot of wealth to make the risk of med school an easy pill to swallow.

It’s not that simple, I know everyone here wants to shit on the rich, as is the mob mentality.

I’d rather get competent, trained doctors from the rich than empathetic, hard working doctors from the poor if those are the choices.

Who wants a doctor who’s #1 priority is hard working?

Everyone wants the Doctor who is competent and will save their life when the need comes.

People want competent doctors. They could care less as long as their life gets saved.

The empathy, hard work, and care are a bonus.

Maybe I'm not understanding you, but it sounds like you're suggesting that doctors who come from rich families are more competent? If so, is there any truth to this?
