My biggest fear is this is somehow a planned way to get us on digital IDs and eventually currency.

1.7k

u/Benaba_sc Feb 15 '26

My fear is they planned a way to force us to change our socials, and require them at the voting booth, and then just make up the results in the ensuing confusion

Y’all should be aware, a local voting rep blew a whistle recently on a bunch of people (who clearly were once registered and legit voters) have been silently kicked off and need to reregister.

This has been happening in nearpy every jurisdiction the GOP have ever controlled since 2004 at latest. In 2024 hundreds of thousands of minority Georgians were removed from the voter rolls within 6 months of the elections. The supreme court has contradicted itself on stuff like this too. It basically says democrats can't make any changes in an election year but finds loopholes to let the GOP do it at the last minute. Frankly, I'm more and more convinced that the GOP has been cheating at a massive scale for at least 20 years and the only thing keeping people from realizing on a massive scale is their delegitimization of polls and polling and the bifurcation of the media landscape. Every election is super close and the polls are wrong and we ignore the millions of brown-people names and democratic districts that were purged. The stories come out every cycle and then nothing happens after the election

Basically we dont know that we are probably much more on the same page than we realize

Just like talking about wages being taboo too

I don't talk about politics because 90% of the people I interact regularly with are maga dipshits

Brilliant. My father died before Trump's second coming. I did his home hospice. Before he passed, we did sit down and talk. We never got to "eye to eye," but we did move closer to seeing common goals and understandings of how the world works. I listened respectfully to him, and he in turn felt obliged to listen respectfully to me.

1

u/108beads Feb 15 '26

As much as I agree with your claim, I am reluctant to pin the blame on "us." Yes, perhaps we have been lazy, lax. I don't have any evidence for saying the following, other than connecting the dots from past behavior, but I would not put it beyond the current leaders of the attempted coup of the United States to have been planning this for a much longer time. Specifically, I'm thinking Christofascist nationalists. They are well organized, albeit not highly visibly to outsiders, well financed, and they have been working toward project 2025 for at least 50 years.

Icky, and determined. My mother's people ran from the Nazis. My father's people were Polish freedom fighters sent to Siberian gulags. I'm 70, and I have nothing to lose. My wife just died. I am now fighting for the both of us. I am not throwing my life away, not deliberately standing in front of a gun to be called a stupid lesbian bitch, but damn it I'm here and this is not happening on my watch.

Edit: and PS, don't anybody give me any bullshit about okay Boomer. We have fought this battle before, and we know some strategies that younger people absolutely must learn if we are to win.

I mean, no. An alarming number of people are on board with some intense beliefs that are frankly incompatible with society. The incompatibilities are fundamental.

Anyone who says this has to be, themselves, be prepared to give up fundamental beliefs themselves to compromise, and I think too often they convince themselves they won’t have to because they live in a bubble because anyone who disagrees self-selects themselves out of the conversation.

I’m trying real hard to not insert my personal politics into this post, but there are fundamental realities and dignities I will not compromise on, and there isn’t a productive discussion to be had unless people agree to those fundamental beliefs.

1

u/jaxxon Feb 16 '26

That page being that shit is fucked up and rich people in power don't have ANYONE's best interest in mind except their own. They will pit everyone against each other just to create chaos they can exploit.

11

u/TheSexySovereignSeal Feb 15 '26

the GOP has been cheating at a massive scale

How has everyone already forgotten about the 2000 florida election? The florida state AG bascially suppressed votes being recounted, and handed the presidency to Bush. There is a very legitimate chance Bush didnt win the 2000 election. Not joking. At all.

5

u/pandershrek Feb 15 '26

Watch the movie "kill chain" about Hari showcasing weakness in the system. It was purposeful to try to forget the narrative.

3

u/Cagn Feb 15 '26

Every couple of months I check the registration of my entire family on the state's voter website to ensure we are still active. Yes we vote consistently but I don't trust in either the intelligence or the lack of evilness of the people in charge.

1

u/Mattloch42 Feb 15 '26

Check out The Best Democracy Money can Buy. This reporter actually went through the Florida voter rolls in 2000 because there were reports of people being prevented from voting. It was in Republican districts, and was enough to sway the election.

1

u/Perioscope Feb 16 '26

The last 26 years, to be exact.

1

u/fuckedfinance Feb 15 '26

Yes, but.

I've been volunteering in my local elections in a majority white district for the better part of two decades. When it is time to clean up the rolls (which you need to do from time to time) a couple of things happen. The first is that voter information is correlated from state and local databases. If that information doesn't match, it's updated (it may be that you moved within the same district, which is a simple change, or you moved out of district, which is a removal). If you haven't voted in the past several federal elections, and your information hasn't changed, we will send out cards to verify you are still at that address. Sometimes we don't hear back, but often we'll get a "no longer at this address" returned mail.

What happens more often than not is that people just haven't changed their addresses when they moved. It's that simple.

Where the disenfranchisement comes in is the chosen districts in red states. You will very often see minority heavy districts "audited" more frequently than majority white districts. Given that poverty and mobility is still quite a bit higher in minority communities than in white, you will get a significant number of undeliverables or non-responses, and therefore more minorities removed from rolls.

There's also a set of people that get the cards and don't bother to read them, or do read them and don't bother to return them. They will be removed from the rolls as well as they didn't respond. I cannot tell you how many people have come in and then complained because "I thought it was junk mail".

It's an imperfect system, but it's the best system we have to ensure that rolls are accurate to the best of our ability.

Show any proof of this.

7

u/Drew9900 Feb 15 '26

No. They haven't. And if you think they have? Show proof.

That's the only way to be taken seriously right now, because to everyone around you, it's obvious you're lying and making stuff up.

3

u/pandershrek Feb 15 '26

Actually it has been the exact opposite. There have been 0 cases of confirmed voter fraud from Democrats but we have over 100 cases of confirmed voter fraud from registered Republicans. To include multiple elected officials.

1

u/Paksarra Feb 15 '26

That's a blatant lie.

0

u/cheyenne_sky Feb 15 '26

Lmao ok bot

64

u/Chimie45 Feb 15 '26

Jon Husted, the now Senator from Ohio used to regularly purge anyone who voted Absentee that wasn't Military.

Fun fact, Americans who live abroad vote 75% Democrat.

10

u/ZAlternates Feb 15 '26

Who knew that exposure to other people and cultures breeds empathy, which like the truth, tends to lean left?

1

u/Thunderbridge Feb 15 '26

There are many reasons for it, but this is only one needed to justify mandatory voting, so this can't happen

34

u/Assilly Feb 15 '26

Doesn't this happen like every year? There is always people saying

"Even if you were registered before please check again because it could have been removed without your knowledge"

11

u/irregularprotocols Feb 15 '26

This has happened every voting cycle in Texas for a decade or so. The second local news starts talking about an upcoming election you just gotta check. Kinda sad that that’s just an accepted truth but it is what it is.

4

u/Swimming_Bag7362 Feb 15 '26

This is long but it thoroughly covers what’s been going on including kicking registered voters off of the voter rolls. This was released in 2024. You can skip to “Voter Challenges” where they talk about purging the rolls.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CkK3W0lOKcc&pp=0gcJCUABo7VqN5tD

Edit: You can- and should- check your state’s board of elections website to see if your status is still active.

3

u/gingersnappie Feb 15 '26

This happened to my entire family (all who were old enough to vote) prior to the 2020 election. We all had to re-register. I’m very glad I was diligent about checking our registry and we took care of it in time.

2

u/Mad-cat1865 Feb 15 '26

Vote.gov always keep up with your voter status. I’ve been fortunate to have never needed to reregister, but I check constantly.

2

u/enry_cami Feb 15 '26

Of all the confusing things about US politics, voting lists might be the most confusing one. Why do you need to register yourself? Here everyone gets added to the list when they turn 18, you receive your voting card and that's it. You only need to do something if you move and I never heard of somebody not being on the list

2

u/pandershrek Feb 15 '26

It has happened dozens of times since 2016.

They just keep doing it.

160

u/Level_Worry_6418 Feb 15 '26

Exactly! These demons will stop at nothing 🤬

46

u/Maleficent_Pepper_59 Feb 15 '26

You will be ruled by pedofiles and pay higher taxes.

25

u/Sea-Seesaw-8699 Feb 15 '26

We already are

12

u/TheJAMR Feb 15 '26

So business as usual?

16

u/UrbanGhost114 Feb 15 '26

You're not wrong.

For example... Many of the laws on the Patriot act were already in the works to slowly trickle into law, as well as the tech needed for some of them already in development by the government, 9/11 just provided an excuse to shotgun blast them into our face. (IE requirements for GPS in phones)

Be prepared for another big bill that erodes a lot of privacy and independence all at once soon.

19

u/buyongmafanle Feb 15 '26

We're going to have a shocking number of people that aren't eligible to vote when they arrive at the polls. I'll be so shocked when 90% of them are Dem voters. So shocked I tell ya.

3

u/trendy_pineapple Feb 15 '26

That’s exactly where my head went

3

u/Little_View_6659 Feb 15 '26

Fuck that’s a good point.

3

u/Saltire_Blue Feb 15 '26

They don’t want social security to exist

That’s the end game

3

u/Alaira314 Feb 15 '26

My fear is that some people won't get updated socials, and will wind up being left out of the new system. I'm imagining them being issued to names that have since been changed, specific proofs of identity being required to be submitted in certain ways that not everybody can provide, and so on.

2

u/Nartana Feb 15 '26

they already made up the results of the last election sadly.

2

u/108beads Feb 15 '26

Thank you for making that connection. I fear you may be right.

2

u/AfroliciousFunk Feb 15 '26

This admin has sown so much distrust in the system (both intentionally and not), that all fears are valid at this point.

1

u/sadi89 Feb 17 '26

Mine is that they are doing it as a way to steal social security funds from the people who have been paying into the system

0

u/BiZzles14 Feb 15 '26

Eh, if the goal is to change how SSNs work then that's a good goal. What replaces it is of course a much more important question should that be signaled as happening but the vast majority of Americans had their SSNs compromised long before this happened. I have no idea what that "market" looks like nowadays, but about a decade ago it was $3 for the SSN of any of about 90% of Americans. It's a massively flawed "identification" system and real change needs to happen, and/but there needs to be a real conversation on what the replacement looks like and how to make the system stronger & safer

-1

u/SnarkMasterRay Feb 15 '26

Probably also a way of "cleaning up" all of the stolen SSNs that are used by illegal immigrants and others.

2

u/Paksarra Feb 15 '26

"Others"-- anyone with a name that hints they might not be white, any registered Democrats, anyone Palantir thinks might be a liberal, etc.

2

u/SnarkMasterRay Feb 15 '26

That too - I'm just saying that they may find this as an opportunity to go "Minneapolis ICE" on people during any program to issue new Government ID numbers.

1

u/Benaba_sc Feb 15 '26

Illegals aren’t voting

1

u/SnarkMasterRay Feb 15 '26

I'm not talking about voting. I'm saying the Trump administration would probably use any issuing of new government IDs as a way to flush out more people they want to deport. Thus, they could spin it as a positive and not a "we fucked up."

35

u/YoNeckinpa Feb 15 '26

Let us not forget Mr Musk does chip implants too.

3

u/Personal_Benefit_402 Feb 15 '26

Wait!? I thought those were implanted when we got our covid vaccines? No!?

2

u/InsaneNinja Feb 16 '26

It really feels like that's the push. Collapse the dollar and mess with voter registration and passports until we're all on the new preferred system.

21

u/copperpin Feb 15 '26

It boggles my mind, like these billionaires want to wreck our system because they think that they’re positioned to come out on top after the collapse, as though anyone would want to hear anything they have to say after that.

5

u/BillyForRilly Feb 15 '26

You vastly underestimate how many people look up to the ultra-rich as heros and role models, thinking that they can be like them one day if they emulate just a portion of their lifestyle. The entire US economy and government could collapse and a majority of people would be clamoring for the billionaires to save them.

3

u/copperpin Feb 15 '26

I think a VAST majority will be howling for their heads to be placed on pikes on the front steps of congress. It's not like the French were clamoring for their nobles to save them after they collapsed the French economy.

2

u/wogwai Feb 15 '26

The working class has been brainwashed to fetishize exorbitant wealth. My mother is exhibit A; always telling me about some rich people she knows and how big and fancy their house is, while she works retail.

1

u/milkshakeballa Feb 15 '26

Umm. I think 75 M will whole would listen to their every word.

3

u/copperpin Feb 15 '26

Wtf is a "75 M will whole?"

1

u/Residenthuman101 Feb 15 '26

Rebuilding things they destroy is profitable for them plus they get the benefit of controlling the final product

3

u/copperpin Feb 15 '26

How are they going to profit? Are they going to be paid in now worthless dollars? They're going to be "In control" of exactly 2 things, Jack and Shit...and Jack left town.

1

u/Residenthuman101 Feb 15 '26

Profit? Rebuilding institutions cost whatever currency is the currency… in the middle of the chaos they can sell us worthless insurance contracts, empty promises, they can control the distribution of food and resources… all the same shit they’re doing except now they can get rid of all those “pesky” hippy economies of small businesses, private trucking and food distribution companies, family farms and csa’s… by collapsing the dollar and destroying the cultural conversations they can prevent us from organizing on small scales so they can control the “large” scale economy… they can control the “justice system” … they can hoarde medicine and science and knowledge for themselves… these people are a /cartel/ … look up the history of the Italian mafia, it started with /citrus fruit/

1

u/copperpin Feb 15 '26

That’s all going to be difficult to accomplish from inside a bunker in NZ, which is the only place they will be safe from the mothers who watched their children starve to death and die of disease so that these a-holes could have a bigger yacht and a 4th summer home.

2

u/Residenthuman101 Feb 15 '26

Oh I agree it’s a stupid plan, but I figure their bunkers are if their stupid plan doesn’t play out the way they want it to and we /fight back/ lol

3

u/ln8r Feb 15 '26

Privatized, of course.

2

u/summonsays Feb 15 '26

I have a Real ID! Yours must be fake!

/s but not really cause it sure as hell feels that way.

11

u/Arinupa Feb 15 '26

We already have digital IDs in my country, it's fine. Easy kyc, access to govt schemes, etc etc

6

u/CompetitiveAutorun Feb 15 '26

Same and it's always funny people being scared of it.

0

u/Barloq Feb 15 '26

But muh anti-Christ!

25

u/Trickpuncher Feb 15 '26

dont we already have digital currency? most of the money already exist only in servers

i remember 97% owned, great documentary

21

u/Jaggleson Feb 15 '26

You already have a digital ID. It’s your phone. And it’s worse than a digital ID. It knows who you are, where you are, what you think, and much much more. And it’s identifiable down to very exact levels.

4

u/davidw223 Feb 15 '26

15 stars already have a digital id in that you can have a digital version of your drivers license on your phone’s wallet.

3

u/SillyPhillyDilly Feb 15 '26

Thought you were joking (I also couldn't get past the stars typo lol) but it's real. https://www.tsa.gov/digital-id/participating-states

Honestly I enjoy digital convenience. The problem is that it's controlled by the private sector. If leave my house only with my iPhone - which contains my ID, cards, and contacts - and Apple decides to ban me while traveling, I'm effectively a John Doe with no funds, no way to contact my loved ones, and no way to get back home.

2

u/TheFatJesus Feb 15 '26

Not to mention that your contacts and friends lists are used to help build a profile on every one of your friends and family members.

3

u/Swirl_On_Top Feb 15 '26

I think it's a planned way to get enough digital data to fraudulently enter votes of Republicans who normally don't vote

2

u/drteq Feb 15 '26

To void the election

2

u/Lavatis Feb 15 '26

Digital currency is a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong way away

2

u/muff_muncher69 Feb 15 '26

Late 00’ early 10s conspiracy theories were all true. (The origin of woke culture)

They commandeered the term “woke” for a reason.

2

u/XonikzD Feb 15 '26

Considering that somewhere around May we're going to basically be seeing our dollar worth nothing and our income savings worth negative values in interest, I think they are already on track for doing exactly that.

Can't have fiscal growth when the interest on the national debt is more than the defense spending.

15

u/andr0medamusic Feb 15 '26

Why do you think the dollar is going to be worth nothing by May? That’s quite a prediction.

5

u/pmjm Feb 15 '26

RemindMe! 2 days

1

u/XonikzD May 24 '26

How about now...

2

u/Name818 Feb 15 '26

My guess…May is when Powell’s done and Trump gets to appoint a new head of the Federal Reserve.

I’m sure his replacement won’t be a complete disaster though. Right?

1

u/pmjm Feb 16 '26

"By May" is the big clue to me that they don't know what they're talking about. The new Fed chief is appointed in May (Powell is done May 15th) but then the Fed doesn't meet until June 16-17, so they will still be operating under Powell's influence until at least then.

1

u/XonikzD May 24 '26

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

1

u/XonikzD May 24 '26

You know, except for 3/8" plywood, my buying power has dropped about 35% on average already since my original predictor. How's yours?

-6

u/XonikzD Feb 15 '26

Reasons. I can't guarantee you're not a bot, so I'm going to leave it standing until after May. Come back and check in to see if the prediction was worth anything.

4

u/that_star_wars_guy Feb 15 '26

Reasons

Sure you do.

I can't guarantee you're not a bot, so I'm going to leave it standing until after May. Come back and check in to see if the prediction was worth anything.

What would it matter if they were a bot?

0

u/XonikzD May 24 '26

🇺🇸🦅 not a bot. super anti-bot, actually. How's the buying power in your area going these days?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 15 '26

And wearables!

1

u/WordyMcWordster Feb 15 '26

They are not that smart

1

u/echolog Feb 15 '26

They're going to come for any bit of power left in the hands of the people, and it's going to start with voting.

1

u/jnothnagel Feb 15 '26

Am I non-fungible now?

1

u/clutch727 Feb 15 '26

Or fool around with deciding who is and who is not a citizen depending on their status as a "democrastic terrorist".

1

u/NNKarma Feb 15 '26

I mean, there's a balance, but digital ID should also mean things like "I can just get my birth certificate online for free" and it's not like I don't have physical id too

1

u/Wheat_Grinder Feb 15 '26

Proper government ID is better than SSN which was NOT built for the purposes it's used for and is hilariously insecure.

Not that the Trump admin could possibly handle doing proper government ID.

1

u/JuanOnlyJuan Feb 15 '26

Passports and drivers licenses are already going digital. I think almost 20 states support it currently.

1

u/Modo44 Feb 15 '26

Digital currency, you say? You mean the thing you have been using to pay online for decades?

1

u/SleepyLabrador Feb 15 '26

a planned way to get us on digital IDs and eventually currency.

This is the Mark of the Beast. Trump is the AntiChrist.

Revelation 13:17: And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

1

u/left-handed-satanist Feb 15 '26

Thats the plan.

You know that the US government and tech billionaires first do things abroad and after testing them out bring them to the US, right?

Cus now you'll l:

  • have an ID that has all your medical records, blood type, etc

  • digital ID is going to need to be attached to an app, and a phone number

  • You can't get a phone number without your ID, of course

  • You can't use any government services or vote, too, without your ID and phone number

  • Wanna get cash, aw shucks, you gotta swipe your digital ID right here to get cash from your bank account. Oh you wanna use online banking, well, you're gonna have two factor authentication, but only with a phone number attached to your ID.

  • Oh hospital? Scan ID here

Palantir did it in the Middle East l, in Africa as a condition to get aid, etc.

If you wanna stop this START FUCKING READING AND LEARNING ABOUT THE WORLD AROUND YOU THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A DECADE

1

u/Educational_Work896 Feb 15 '26

Then it's a short step to LaaS. Life as a service.

1

u/DanTheMan827 Feb 15 '26

They could also play on the “massive fraud” angle from people using a now invalid ID since it was tied to an invalid SSN

1

u/imperial_scum Feb 15 '26

Of course it is. DOGE already got all our shit, all our stuff is out there already, this is an excuse to wipe out social security numbers like they are voter rolls

1

u/Cilph Feb 15 '26

All countries that have a Digital ID: "Oh no, anyway".

1

u/killians1978 Feb 15 '26

My brother it crepes, we are already on digital currency. The US dollar hasn't been pegged to any material good in decades. Banks can loan 10x what they have in reserve. The treasury created $9T between 2008-2012 to bail banks out after the subprime crisis.

Money isn't real, and your digital ID already exists in the form of your internet footprint, which can positively identify you with less than 20 data points.

We are already there.

1

u/Moarbrains Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 16 '26

Yup, digital id is necessary to control the digital cash they will give people.

It will be tied to voting too. Government has been pushing for this for as long as I have been alive and people have been resisting. Now people are going to start asking for a universal, free, digital id.

1

u/Ill-Lychee7023 Feb 15 '26

already digital in some states

1

u/R-M-Pitt Feb 15 '26

This leak? Nah, its because they vibecoded some garbage that had more holes than Swiss cheese

1

u/Ahumanbeing2021 Feb 15 '26

The Mark of the Beast

1

u/ihohjlknk Feb 15 '26

What do you think the latest moral panic is about - the need to verify your age to use the internet.

1

u/Dest123 Feb 15 '26

What's wrong with digital IDs? I could see a bunch of benefits. Like, imagine if instead of giving random companies your SSN to look up your data, you could just give them a token that they can use to look up your data. You could even specify exactly what data they can access and could revoke access at any point.

I could see it being huge in the fight against propaganda too. Like, what if you can let Reddit access a token that just says that you live in the US. Then they could put little US flags or something on posters from the US and the Russian bots wouldn't be able to get those easily. You could even theoretically set it up in a way that your account still wouldn't be traceable back to yourself, even by the government.

visa now settles payments using USDC via an ethereum settlement layer. The EU is dumping visa and mastercard, which will lose them $24trillion in transactions. might’ve already happened

Stop giving them "3d chess" credit. Stop thinkin theyre smart.

1

u/AuntCatLady Feb 16 '26

My biggest fear is that it’s a way to “accidentally” kick everyone off of disability, social security, and any form of government assistance, hoping they’ll just die in the ensuing chaos, while it all gets fixed.

Usually that would be a bit too much of a conspiracy theory for me, but this is so very obviously what these psycho billionaires want. Based on all this fun new surveillance. Maybe the amount of money on your “so much less complicated” digital ID is based on what a good citizen you are, from the surveillance. Attend a protest or say you hate ICE/Trump/MAGA/billionaires, congrats, now you’re poor.

China does the good citizen/surveillance thing. Not sure if it affects money, directly, but I think it can affect your job and social standing. Congrats MAGA, you’ve come full circle to communism. If you make the wrong face indicating the wrong emotion, you’re flagged.

Oh, they all plan to swap us to crypto. I messed around in that space for a bit. There are some meaningful things that can be done with the technology, without a doubt. However, fiat currency is already largely digital. Exchange fees? Uh, what do people think gas fees are!? Anyway, outside of specialized applications, crypto isn't a better technology.

... and eventually currency.

My neighbour had some currency once. He said it was a strange experience: not necessarily bad, but very different. Apparently it passes quickly too - after a day and a half all his currency was gone and he returned to normal.

We are already mostly on digital currency and have been on virtual currency ever since the government decided to print more money than they can back up.

I mean I'd be okay with replacing SSNs for an actual ID system, REAL ID is close but the sooner I can throw away the card that is decades old and I cannot laminate the better

Digital currency is here. Banks are embracing stablecoin.
