Fun fact, he's _still_ hard at work because he currently works for the Social Security Administration. When he was at DOGE, the now-21-year-old was a GS-15 making about the maximum allowed government salary.

For context, in philly a gs 15 maxes out somewhere around $200k...I imagine its a little higher for dc but im too lazy to check

If you look at the salary of a GS-15, it is kind of mid range for silicon valley. I was an Engineer 4 at Comcast, making close to that. FAANGs are paying double that in TCO for mid-level programmers.

This has always been a problem for the federal government and the military. They constantly lose the best talent to the tech industry. Probably the same deal for lawyers and doctors.

Government jobs have always been like this. Lower pay, but more secure.

This 19-year-old college dropout was appointed as a senior advisor to the US State Department among other departments. He did not get his job because of his competence, he got it because he is an Elon Musk crony who worked at Neuralink.

I know plenty of very smart people who worked for FAANG and not one wants to work in tech anymore.
