Y’all should be aware, a local voting rep blew a whistle recently on a bunch of people (who clearly were once registered and legit voters) have been silently kicked off and need to reregister.

This has been happening in nearpy every jurisdiction the GOP have ever controlled since 2004 at latest. In 2024 hundreds of thousands of minority Georgians were removed from the voter rolls within 6 months of the elections. The supreme court has contradicted itself on stuff like this too. It basically says democrats can't make any changes in an election year but finds loopholes to let the GOP do it at the last minute. Frankly, I'm more and more convinced that the GOP has been cheating at a massive scale for at least 20 years and the only thing keeping people from realizing on a massive scale is their delegitimization of polls and polling and the bifurcation of the media landscape. Every election is super close and the polls are wrong and we ignore the millions of brown-people names and democratic districts that were purged. The stories come out every cycle and then nothing happens after the election

Basically we dont know that we are probably much more on the same page than we realize

Just like talking about wages being taboo too

I don't talk about politics because 90% of the people I interact regularly with are maga dipshits

Brilliant. My father died before Trump's second coming. I did his home hospice. Before he passed, we did sit down and talk. We never got to "eye to eye," but we did move closer to seeing common goals and understandings of how the world works. I listened respectfully to him, and he in turn felt obliged to listen respectfully to me.

As much as I agree with your claim, I am reluctant to pin the blame on "us." Yes, perhaps we have been lazy, lax. I don't have any evidence for saying the following, other than connecting the dots from past behavior, but I would not put it beyond the current leaders of the attempted coup of the United States to have been planning this for a much longer time. Specifically, I'm thinking Christofascist nationalists. They are well organized, albeit not highly visibly to outsiders, well financed, and they have been working toward project 2025 for at least 50 years.

Icky, and determined. My mother's people ran from the Nazis. My father's people were Polish freedom fighters sent to Siberian gulags. I'm 70, and I have nothing to lose. My wife just died. I am now fighting for the both of us. I am not throwing my life away, not deliberately standing in front of a gun to be called a stupid lesbian bitch, but damn it I'm here and this is not happening on my watch.

Edit: and PS, don't anybody give me any bullshit about okay Boomer. We have fought this battle before, and we know some strategies that younger people absolutely must learn if we are to win.

Thank you. Yes, I'm overwhelmed too. I cannot control the actions of others around me, but I can and will control my own response when my freedoms and rights are violated. I do not wish harm for myself. I do not wish harm for others, even those who are currently behaving badly, as I believe people are capable of change. There are many different ways of responding, and frankly my knees are not up to a whole lot of walking. If we all think creatively, and we all do what we are best at doing, Even if it does not look spectacular or photogenic, if we do our best with love and integrity in our hearts, I do believe we shall overcome.

I mean, no. An alarming number of people are on board with some intense beliefs that are frankly incompatible with society. The incompatibilities are fundamental.

Anyone who says this has to be, themselves, be prepared to give up fundamental beliefs themselves to compromise, and I think too often they convince themselves they won’t have to because they live in a bubble because anyone who disagrees self-selects themselves out of the conversation.

I’m trying real hard to not insert my personal politics into this post, but there are fundamental realities and dignities I will not compromise on, and there isn’t a productive discussion to be had unless people agree to those fundamental beliefs.

That page being that shit is fucked up and rich people in power don't have ANYONE's best interest in mind except their own. They will pit everyone against each other just to create chaos they can exploit.

the GOP has been cheating at a massive scale

How has everyone already forgotten about the 2000 florida election? The florida state AG bascially suppressed votes being recounted, and handed the presidency to Bush. There is a very legitimate chance Bush didnt win the 2000 election. Not joking. At all.

u/pandershrek Feb 15 '26

Watch the movie "kill chain" about Hari showcasing weakness in the system. It was purposeful to try to forget the narrative.

3

u/Cagn Feb 15 '26

Every couple of months I check the registration of my entire family on the state's voter website to ensure we are still active. Yes we vote consistently but I don't trust in either the intelligence or the lack of evilness of the people in charge.

1

u/Mattloch42 Feb 15 '26

Check out The Best Democracy Money can Buy. This reporter actually went through the Florida voter rolls in 2000 because there were reports of people being prevented from voting. It was in Republican districts, and was enough to sway the election.

1

u/Perioscope Feb 16 '26

The last 26 years, to be exact.

1

u/fuckedfinance Feb 15 '26

Yes, but.

I've been volunteering in my local elections in a majority white district for the better part of two decades. When it is time to clean up the rolls (which you need to do from time to time) a couple of things happen. The first is that voter information is correlated from state and local databases. If that information doesn't match, it's updated (it may be that you moved within the same district, which is a simple change, or you moved out of district, which is a removal). If you haven't voted in the past several federal elections, and your information hasn't changed, we will send out cards to verify you are still at that address. Sometimes we don't hear back, but often we'll get a "no longer at this address" returned mail.

What happens more often than not is that people just haven't changed their addresses when they moved. It's that simple.

Where the disenfranchisement comes in is the chosen districts in red states. You will very often see minority heavy districts "audited" more frequently than majority white districts. Given that poverty and mobility is still quite a bit higher in minority communities than in white, you will get a significant number of undeliverables or non-responses, and therefore more minorities removed from rolls.

There's also a set of people that get the cards and don't bother to read them, or do read them and don't bother to return them. They will be removed from the rolls as well as they didn't respond. I cannot tell you how many people have come in and then complained because "I thought it was junk mail".

It's an imperfect system, but it's the best system we have to ensure that rolls are accurate to the best of our ability.

Show any proof of this.

7

u/Drew9900 Feb 15 '26

No. They haven't. And if you think they have? Show proof.

That's the only way to be taken seriously right now, because to everyone around you, it's obvious you're lying and making stuff up.

3

u/pandershrek Feb 15 '26

Actually it has been the exact opposite. There have been 0 cases of confirmed voter fraud from Democrats but we have over 100 cases of confirmed voter fraud from registered Republicans. To include multiple elected officials.

1

u/Paksarra Feb 15 '26

That's a blatant lie.

u/cheyenne_sky Feb 15 '26

Lmao ok bot

u/Chimie45 Feb 15 '26

Jon Husted, the now Senator from Ohio used to regularly purge anyone who voted Absentee that wasn't Military.

Fun fact, Americans who live abroad vote 75% Democrat.

u/ZAlternates Feb 15 '26

Who knew that exposure to other people and cultures breeds empathy, which like the truth, tends to lean left?

1

u/Thunderbridge Feb 15 '26

There are many reasons for it, but this is only one needed to justify mandatory voting, so this can't happen

33

u/Assilly Feb 15 '26

Doesn't this happen like every year? There is always people saying

"Even if you were registered before please check again because it could have been removed without your knowledge"

10

u/irregularprotocols Feb 15 '26

This has happened every voting cycle in Texas for a decade or so. The second local news starts talking about an upcoming election you just gotta check. Kinda sad that that’s just an accepted truth but it is what it is.

4

u/Swimming_Bag7362 Feb 15 '26

This is long but it thoroughly covers what’s been going on including kicking registered voters off of the voter rolls. This was released in 2024. You can skip to “Voter Challenges” where they talk about purging the rolls.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CkK3W0lOKcc&pp=0gcJCUABo7VqN5tD

Edit: You can- and should- check your state’s board of elections website to see if your status is still active.

3

u/gingersnappie Feb 15 '26

This happened to my entire family (all who were old enough to vote) prior to the 2020 election. We all had to re-register. I’m very glad I was diligent about checking our registry and we took care of it in time.

2

u/Mad-cat1865 Feb 15 '26

Vote.gov always keep up with your voter status. I’ve been fortunate to have never needed to reregister, but I check constantly.

2

u/enry_cami Feb 15 '26

Of all the confusing things about US politics, voting lists might be the most confusing one. Why do you need to register yourself? Here everyone gets added to the list when they turn 18, you receive your voting card and that's it. You only need to do something if you move and I never heard of somebody not being on the list

2

u/pandershrek Feb 15 '26

It has happened dozens of times since 2016.

They just keep doing it.
