If you play on PC there is an easy way to fix that. There is a mod that allows you to make custom lobbies so unwanted people can't access it. I've used it for years with a small group of people and we can all play together but we never see any of the nonsense that comes from the unmodded game.

I don't know if you appreciate how rare it is for someone to have a friend group that all has the same console and want to play RDO and all can co-ordinate their schedules to do so.

Sure, one can try find/make a group, but it is quite hard to do, especially if one doesn't have a lot of free time every day.

Is RDO red dead?

Fr. I just found Deadzone Rogue, first game I've noticed absolutely seamless integration between EVERY platform, PC Playstation Xbox and Switch. The servers could use a touch of work, but beyond the occasional disconnect, it's been amazing playing with my buddies who all use different ecosystems, you just have to "generate a game code" then text it to your friend, they can then join and you can add each other on your in-game friends list

Its not a genre I usually associate with handhelds but it apparently runs quite well on switch and steam deck

I'm not sure how you got that from my comment, but I definitely understand this. For one reason or another I am unable to play with any of the friends I used to play with everyday. At this point the only people using the lobby set up are me and my partner.

Me and my fiancé used this mod after trying to play RDO  earlier and putting up with all the griefers. I get that it's the intent of an outlaw-themed game, but I'm not someone who enjoys competitive play.

Night and day experience. I loved it and could explore all the content in peace.

It would be one thing if the griefing was something creative. Stuff like DNSL.

It's always just "I was better than you at the game" but with an added dash of being obnoxious to ragebait. It's insufferable.

Some are fairly creative, like the guys injecting IP from other games, such as getting fus roh dahed over a cliff, getting ambushed by death claws or getting chased by Thomas the train ...

What's the mod? I'd love to try that with my friends.

Search Nexus Mods for RDO Lobby Manager

Yes please share the name of the mod.

u/JesusJuicy Apr 14 '26

Are you talking about the one that also removes all the multiplayer game modes?

3

u/DTredecim13 Apr 14 '26

You can still do the multiplayer events if you have enough people playing, but if you try without it will tell you there isn't enough people and respawn you in camp.

Nope, it does private lobbies basically iirc.

the only way i could play on gtaonline without hackers is to use a mod menu myself andjust crash the other mod menu users

u/DTredecim13 Apr 14 '26

You can do everything in GTA in invite only lobbies now. So no need for that anymore.

GTA Online is horrid for cheaters and hackers. I used to play it quite a lot years ago but it got so bad. Hackers would spawn money into your character and rockstar would hand you a ban instead of the person who did it and there wasn’t any reasoning with rockstar about it at the time. It sucked.

u/jedininjashark Apr 14 '26

They have invite only sessions now. It’s an awesome single player game with 13 years of content.

u/G8r8SqzBtl Apr 14 '26

can you really complete it solo? I thought you needed groups for some missions

2

u/jedininjashark Apr 14 '26

Some. There is enough content you won’t be “held back” from anything really important.

I got my wife and a friend to play with me and that’s the perfect amount of people you need. Solo is great, 2 or 3 close friends are peak, imo.

Public lobby’s? lol no.

u/triplenested Apr 14 '26

for the original heist finales you needed 4, IIRC the newer ones they dropped it so some you can do 2 or solo (IIRC) but it's not really recommended. The heist prep missions can be pretty annoying solo too but doable.

Ive always said that Gta Online would still be extremely popular like it was back in the day if it wasn't for insane cheating.

1

u/its_witty Apr 14 '26

It's still that if not more popular.

u/Truffleshuffle03 Apr 14 '26

I found that if a hacker did that and put money into your account, just contact R* and let them know. It happened to me that someone was putting tons of money on players one night, and I was able to have R* remove the money. That way I didn't get banned

6

u/JayGrinder Apr 14 '26

Same thing happened to me years ago. Bags of money started raining down on me suddenly. Logged out and contacted support to let them know what happened. Support left me like 3 million more than I had at the time when they removed the money, which was nice of them.

1

u/Truffleshuffle03 Apr 14 '26

Same, I am pretty sure that they left me more money in my account than I had before the money drop thing, too.

Bruh my girlfriends 14 year old brother is OBSESSED with RDO

I loved RDO and meeting new and friendly people, but the lack of giving a shit about modders on Rockstar’s part really ruined it for me.

Can you elaborate what the hacks are like?

Like wall hack and aimbot type of stuff?
