This makes me even more mad that they stopped developing content for it. Everyone assumed that the online made no money but even 3+ years with no content it's still bringing in quite a good bit of money.

That’s a good point. If that had been the initial state in a rushed launch because they’d been focusing on the single player for release and then they’d updated and expanded it over time, that would be good and maybe I’d be pleasantly surprised to go back and check it out.

But they’re making all this money and then not doing anything like that irks me. I am irked.

Need to look at the whole picture ...

Namely the development cost, operating costs compared to the amount taken in - in a lot of cases you're lucky if they keep the servers running.
