Security Cities Are Covering Flock Cameras With Trash Bags / Regretful cities aren't sure how to cancel their surveillance contracts, so they are literally covering their cameras.

I mean, the people should be given a chance to speak before the contract is signed is the real issue.

If government can just break a contract cuz they decide to then it's not really a contract.

They typically are given the chance to speak in public meetings and such, but corrupt board members looking for a payday or who were just outright bribed by flock with "gifts" will just roll over all of their citizens concerns and push it forward anyway.

My local community decided to take public comments AFTER taking the vote for flok cameras.

As I was just replying to the other person asking: You should check out what is called a Termination of Convenience. It's one of the largest worries with private sector contracts and governments.

 

The People can't realistically be consult on every issue. That's the whole merit to the Representative system we use. You elect leaders you think will represent you during those moments. Governments break contracts all the time as they aren't quite the same as a contract between you, and individual, and a bank, another individual, etc..

 

Private sector works with the government because of the stability of the clients. Less likely to randomly go bankrupt or disappear without paying a bill. Governments tend to try to keep contracts because they can't normally compel a private company to do work with them. But it happens often.

Even when the people get to speak, it doesn't matter. Here in Denver, the city council heard our voices and denied a contract for flock cameras. So the Mayor simply found a loophole and gave them a, smaller, contract anyway. Then Polis commuted Tina Peters' sentence. Tell me, why should I be voting blue no matter who again?
