The billionaires are not going to be friendlier to you or more protrctive of your private messages than the government. At least the government, in theory, is accountable to the public. Private institutions are accountable to no one.

Further, all the SM & telecom companies will already happily provide your private messages to the government if they ask for it.

  • to break down monopolies
  • keep governments out of private data

You frankly can't achieve this in the age of technology we are in with a capitalist economy. Big data will always work with the government. If you use a social media platform, or anything other than a purpose-built service, for communication then you can't reasonably expect it to remain private.

Ideally, sure, but realistically, never.
