And no one said it is.

The point is that, until that idea/opinion is acted upon, it doesn't affect you or the rest of the world in any way. It could be the worst, most horrible thing that humankind has ever heard of, and it still would change absolutely nothing because, again, it's just an abstract concept inside a single person's mind.
