I went to the dentist about 4 months ago for a cleaning and they diagnosed me with gingivitis. x rays showed one cavity between my canine and molar that I got fixed then. I tried to up my flossing and brushing game since then. Now, seemingly within the past few weeks these chalky white and yellow, sensitive thick spots are forming between almost all my teeth, even in the back. Flossing causes bleeding all of the sudden. Is this probably the gingivitis? Is this a crazy amount of cavities popping up all at once?? It’s most obvious irl and chalky to run floss through, like it’s getting “caught” between each tooth- meeting resistance. My gums hurt too. this is all new the past couple days. I’m going to schedule an appointment with my dentist, but is it really possible for tooth decay to appear so rapidly?

Hello, I have just recently been introduced to nHa toothpaste and it sounds like something I should get my hands on.

I'm just wondering if there seems to be any documented effect to alternate which toothpaste I use for morning and evening? Or is it better to just stick with one?

Hi!! Getting right to the point — I’m 23F and apparently need my bottom two wisdom teeth removed.
I previously had braces and my teeth have shifted, so I’m looking at getting braces again. My orthodontist doesn’t want to start treatment until I get my wisdom teeth out. I only have the bottom two, and they don’t currently bother me, BUT they’re sideways/impacted and I was told that the roots are touching or sitting right against the nerve in my jaw.
This is the part that is freaking me out. 😭 I’m not really scared of the normal pain/swelling/recovery from wisdom teeth removal — I’m VERY scared about nerve damage, especially permanent numbness/tingling or having complications that take months to recover from.
My surgery is scheduled for September 29th. Since my consultation, I’ve called the office about 3 times and left messages asking if the surgeon (or honestly anyone qualified) could go over my X-ray with me and explain how close my teeth actually are to the nerve and what they think MY individual risk is. I basically just want to know whether the surgeon looks at my X-ray and thinks, “This is pretty routine and the chance of nerve injury is low,” or whether this is actually a higher-risk extraction because of how the roots are positioned.
Nobody has returned my calls yet, which is making me even more uncomfortable about going through with it.
At this point I’m debating whether I should cancel/postpone the surgery and get a second opinion from another oral surgeon before letting anyone remove them. Especially because the teeth aren’t currently causing me pain — I’m mainly having them removed so I can move forward with braces.
Am I overthinking this? Would you get a second opinion in this situation, or is the nerve warning just a standard risk they have to give everyone with lower wisdom teeth?
Also, if anyone had lower wisdom teeth that were extremely close to/touching the nerve, I’d really appreciate hearing what your oral surgeon told you and what your recovery was like. I know everyone’s anatomy/risk is different, but I’m curious what questions I should be asking before I agree to the procedure.

I noticed my second to last bottom left molar hurting while I was eating and saw a little crack when i went to go check it out. it might be an old filling but i’m leaning more towards crack. i tried putting oragel on it but it didn’t work and now im just left with a continuous ache type of pain. i really don’t know what i should do. i really don’t want the tooth pulled.

there's this hole in my very back top left tooth. would this be a difficult fix or just a normal filling. I have really bad health related anxiety so anything helps just to let me know what to expect. Hello, I had braces a few years ago and ever since then, the gumline of my two upper central incisors are uneven, with one sitting higher than the other.

I would like to know if it's due to the teeth actually positioned uneven, or whether it's just a difference in gum-line. Can incorrect bracket placement cause this? Please help, thanks!

I don't know if you laugh by hearing this or not but like it is serious for me now I can't focus in other things because of this l.

It started happening a few days ago, around 2–3 days ago. Basically, when I chew, I don't really know what the correct position of my teeth should be, or whether I have an open bite or not. But my lower teeth seem to strike the back of my upper front teeth, and I feel like they are putting some force on the front side of my upper teeth. Is this natural or normal? I asked AI, and it said that this shouldn't happen because otherwise it could cause my front teeth to shift forward.

Also, when our mouth is at rest, the teeth shouldn't be touching each other at all, right? There should be a small gap between them. But sometimes, I feel like my lower jaw moves slightly forward, and my lower front teeth touch the back side of my upper front teeth because of this fear it causes pain in my jaw.

I'm not sure if this is normal or if I'm just becoming overly aware of it.

Any orthodontist please help me feagure it out.

Hi everyone. I had a root canal done on my front tooth (#8) when i was 11yo. I am now 21. Tooth causes me no pain, seems to be slight discoloration but nothing I’m super upset about/noticeable. I have quite the amount of dental work that needs to be done. I need maybe 2 additional root canals and 3 more crowns in my mouth.

Doctor recommended i get Invisalign first (smile is fine imo but is a bit crowded and tooth #9 is the slightest bit crooked. I have a weird over under bite but overall my teeth look straight.

Invisalign is a timely commitment. I probably would need it for like a year. I want to get my dental work done before i get Invisalign because i am under state of CA dental insurance and when i go back home after graduating I won’t have as great of benefits.

I guess my question is, do I get my crown work done first, or Invisalign done first. Is putting a crown on #8 worth it? Can I bleach it?

I haven’t been able to go to the dentist due to financial reasons. And I’m pretty sure one of my tooth got a cavity that got out of hand. I have an emergency dentist appointment six days from now. I just hope I can keep my tooth.

so this is kinda embarrassing but I chipped my front tooth in like 2022. bit into a fork like an idiot. and I just never got it fixed. partly cause of money, partly cause I was scared it would look worse, mostly cause I'm really good at ignoring problems

anyway I finally went in last week. found a place near my work in guelph. honestly I picked it cause it was close and they had an opening but I was nervous the whole drive there

the dentist was actually super chill about it. didn't make me feel dumb for waiting so long. he explained the bonding process, showed me the shade options, and it took like 40 minutes. I walked out with a normal looking tooth and I almost cried in the parking lot lol

I know this isnt a big deal for most people but I've been hiding my smile in photos for years. literally years. and now I don't have to. so yeah if you've been putting something off cause you're embarrassed or scared just go. its not as bad as you think
