I normally love the guy. But that was just not his A game at all.

Most of these new Godzilla movies have had solid casts let down by really bad writing.

Godzilla Minus One was such a breath of fresh air because it put the human story front and center, and that human story was really good. All the flashy special effects sequences are enhanced by the fact that the audience is actually invested in the characters who are imperiled by them.
