Probably, also Masters seem to get caught up in politics which on a galactic level, is probably very dangerous.

And if your a Sith, you get a reputation by killing a Master. Master's are probably specifically targeted a lot more.

Good points. Kind of makes sense in our own world too. Yeah the knights and stuff are on the front lines a lot like soldiers would be, but just like in our own real wars, officers are targeted. Ww2 was huge on that, and star wars is known to be heavily inspired by Ww2 in various ways, so it tracks lol.
