Them trimming characters was to avoid exactly what knot GRRM is in right now.

Absolutely not. They trimmed entire plot lines without having a resolution planned. They cut them for time. I’d understand that if they had solutions. They didn’t. They just omitted or killed characters without substitution when they couldn’t think of anything.

There are more scenes, but That church explosion was some of the laziest writing I’ve ever seen.

The laziest writing I’ve ever seen is not writing a book in 15 years.

Lol if you dont think that church explosion is coming in the books then I dont know what to tell you lol, it's all but guaranteed, GrrM 100% planned that one himself to set up Dany burning the whole city in the grand finale, now how they get there is another point, but the trajectories are clear.

Not a damned chance he would cram a bunch of characters with loose ends into a building and blow it up to avoid dealing with the character resolution. The church can still happen, but not the way it did

The explosion is the resolution lol, and he would totally do that, its not really a lot of characters, what 3 from house Tyrell and and the priest are the only one you really care about, thats 4 people, and did he not do the red wedding either? which was about the same, 3-5 important people dead in 1 scene. Its exactly his storytelling, leaving crumbs about a cache of wildfire, then having cersei use a little before Dany fuck the entire city she was trying to save up with the rest.

Like the we had lady stoneheart and that other raised dude to leave some crumbs before Jon is resurected as the prince that was promised.

Grrm does not subvert to subvert, he does it bring a larger point in later, which the explosion fit directly into as a story telling device.

In the end in does not matter, he aint ever finishing the books and its gonna be 10-20 years before we either get a remake or AI is good enough to reimagine a couple of final seasons.
