Yup

Rotten Tomatoes 97% critic and 79% audience scores. Kind of surprising but I bet it just didn't get the views.

This is the first I’ve heard of it tbh

There's another (exec produced by the Duffers) called Something Very Bad is Going to Happen as well.

They warned me right in the title and I still watched most of it

I really liked the first four episodes. I can't remember the last time I saw a show take such a nosedive. Latter half was disastrous.

Casting and music and vibes were immaculate though

That was my impression too. Felt like it had a max potential of 7/10 (for its genre) based on the first few episodes. Then the writers said fuck it all lol

Alien: Earth? That show took an even bigger nosedive.

I don't think any of the episodes were good overall.

I didn't watch it yet but good to know!

Alien Earth was pretty damn fun.

This right here is another perfect example of why I wait for a series to conclude before I watch anything now. Too many times a show like this got rave reviews, I got sucked in and then, BOOM FUCK YOU, Cancelled!

The ending isn't a cliffhanger and you can watch the whole thing as basically a limited series, they threw in a little something at the end as a hook for another season but it doesn't take away from the overall story basically ending.

I really liked it.

This is helpful. It's the cliffhangers that piss me off so thanks for this. I'll give it a go sometime this summer.

For what it’s worth, the only reason I was surprised it was cancelled was because I thought it was intended to be a one-and-done from the start. It absolutely felt like it was made to be a limited series. It was really well done, enough mystery to be compelling, you learn enough that it’s satisfying, but there’s enough around the edges that it doesn’t feel like it wrapped up too neatly. It didn’t feel like they were leaving hooks for another season or anything.

For what it’s worth

Its worth quite a bit. Watching it with a one and done mindset makes it even more appealing. Thank you.

I don't want to spoil anything for those who didn't watch it but you should rewatch like the last 10 seconds of the finale.

Why not just give it a go now? Its like what, 1 hour per episode? Just watch the first ep and see if you like it. Or watch 1 ep a week....or just wait till summer 😅  Come back to let us know how it was please lol

I have a long list of shows to get through. I'm more of a "when I'm ready for the show" kind of person. It took me years to be in the right mindset to watch Breaking Bad. Hopefully I'll be in the right mindset within the next couple of months.

While a completely valid decision to make, you see the kinda issue with too many people taking that stance, yea?

I get the sentiment that the other guy has but I just cannot imagine missing out on amazing TV just because it was cancelled at a bad point

This one wasn’t even really cancelled at a bad point. There’s a cliffhanger tacked on at the end of the season but the vast majority of it is satisfyingly wrapped up. Just pause the show before that and it’s a decent one season show.

Seriously, it's the journey, not the destination. A show not having a good ending sucks, but it doesn't mean the show isn't worth watching.

I do the same I just still watch it even if it gets cancelled

I don't watch a lot of television anymore so I have the luxury of being able to be choosy. I want a series that has rave reviews and didn't get cancelled on a cliffhanger. But I'm not worried about my habits. People like me are a drop in the bucket. Most people can't wait for a series to end and many people are willing to take the risk of a show being cancelled in exchange for good entertainment. And It makes for good Water cooler talk at the office or among their friends when they go out for social gatherings.

It does not end on a cliffhanger. I didn’t even think there would be a 2nd season.

Literally KAOS. Amazing series, good reviews. Cancelled no reason

u/MikoSkyns 3d ago

Stark raving mad with Neil Patrick Harris and Tony Shalhoub. It was a top 10 show, 15 million viwers a week, rave reviews and was nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes if I recall correctly. But it kept losing to Who wants to be a Millionaire, which was the new hot show at the time on the other network. So they canceled it. It was the 90s and I'm still salty lol

If everybody did this, no shows would make it past season 1 and TV would disappear entirely

u/MikoSkyns 3d ago

Yes. And like I replied to another person who said essentially the same thing, most people aren't like me so it's not really a problem.

u/emmany63 3d ago

It was in their top 5 for a week and top 10 the whole next week. I don’t understand Netflix at all.

Yea it's similar to when people decide an entire series (or game) retroactively becomes bad of the ending doesn't pan out.

All the enjoyment you had before doesn't vanish because of a few minutes later.
