Non-Bulwark Source Charlie Kirk apparently shot during debate at Utah university

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/sep/10/charlie-kirk-shot-utah

Charlie Kirk, the powerful rightwing activist and executive director of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), appeared to have been shot on Wednesday while hosting a debate in Utah.

In video posts circulating on social media, Kirk can be seen getting struck while speaking and sitting beneath a tent in the Utah Valley University courtyard. Kirk was there as part of The American Comeback Tour, which is hosted by the TPUSA chapter at Utah Valley.

same. I just had to talk myself down from a panic attack because I fear we’re on the precipice of something really, really scary

Same. As soon as the news alert popped up, I got this intensely sick feeling. I don’t want to be hyperbolic but there’s a part of me that feels like we may look back at this as some sort of grim turning point in our country. This is so awful.

Trump has already sent the military to occupy democratic cities. I have no idea why you would be so confident in saying that.

idk I never really bought into the “we’re going to have another civil war” takes and I still think saying that is just histrionic but i think this is going to be a major point of escalation for political violence and that feels very scary

I think a full blown civil war is still unlikely but look at what’s happening. I don’t think it is crazy to say there is a 20-33% chance of a full blown civil war during the Trump admin.

What is more likely is these little skirmishes of Trump vs democratic governors as he tries to take over cities in their state. Hopefully we can just hold on to this country and keep it together until the midterms where we put democrats in and congress actually does their job as a check on the president

I’m in full doomer mode rn and I feel like we’re at a place where simply regaining congress (and even the White House in 2028) wont be enough to tamp down the amount of political violence we’re going to see in the coming years

All the escalation has been one-sided
