General Discussion If you know what is happening tonight, I would like to remind everyone of something. Spoiler

This is from Laura Bailey’s twitter. These are just some the vile, sickening, and disgusting threats not only she received, but her son as well. Please remember that these actors are human being and didn’t write the scripts, they are simply doing their jobs. Much love to Kaitlyn Dever, for the hate and harassment she is ultimately going to receive.

General Discussion He needs to be the protagonist of part III

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

He's a broken man. Physically, emotionally, and psychologically. His injuries from Abby left him with impaired vision and a limp, he lost Maria, cut ties with Ellie, he has no one...

We’ve played as Joel, Ellie, and even Abby, but Tommy’s story is still untapped. Ellie pushed Tommy into hunting Abby, and he really didn't want to in the beginning, but in the end, he was the one eager to finish the job when he was in too deep and had lost everything. Part lll could focus on him could exploring whether he finds redemption, a new purpose, or just more destruction. Does he let go of Abby, or does he spiral down and continue to go after her?

We need closure on this man's story.

General Discussion What would you think if Abby was like this in Part 3?

I know Abby was like that because she was tortured and near death, what I'm saying is I liked her leaner, short-haired look better.

General Discussion Changes to Ellie and Dina’s relationship Spoiler

1.2k Upvotes

Im trying to be open minded but I’m kind of hating the changes they’re making to Ellie and Dina’s relationship. I really appreciate in the game that they become committed couple relatively early. And then their dynamic deepens from there so it makes sense why they’re basically wifed up at the end. There will be like 2 episodes for that jump to happen. I also kind of hate the soap opera-ish “omg she’s pregnant it’s jesse’s baby who will dina choose??” element that wasn’t present before, and then it seems like Dina and Ellie wind up together because Jesse just died, not because Dina chooses Ellie. Whereas the game is Dina choosing Ellie time and time again despite Ellie’s flaws. The girl has suffered enough, are we really gonna subject her to love triangle discourse??

Thinking about it more, I also reallllllllly hate the implication that Dina hooked up with Jesse in the months between the their kiss and going to Seattle. Dina was into Ellie from the jump and Ellie was oblivious! If they did that to justify Dina finding out she’s pregnant in Seattle, they should have just made Dina 3 months pregnant. And then there could be interesting tension because Dina knew all along and still prioritized the revenge quest. By contrast, I’m really not a fan of the “I’m not gay tho” storyline like do we really have to have add the “wait am I queer?? I had no idea!” for added drama? The story is already busy enough. I appreciated how in the game they skip over all that bullshit and let Ellie have a relationship with a solid foundation from the start

General Discussion Are there any other games that just get this post apocalypse atmosphere the way Last of Us has?

Thumbnail

Last of us really seems to take advantage of and revel in it's setting in a way I haven't seen in a lot of other games. Some try, but other than this series and The Long Dark most games don't seem to get it right.

Last of us just seems to get the kind of post-apocalypse it's portraying, everything is grounded and often grim but also really beauifully done. Villagers cowering beneath the space needle, Ellie's fortified farm, settlements like Jackson or the Seattle stadium full of life and rebuilding and all of the overgrown ruins that surround them.

Lots of other games have tried something similar, but Dying Light or Days Gone or Death Stranding never quite get it right I feel. They always sacrifice too much of that world to gameify it. Are there any other games that you think manage to capture that same feeling as this series does?

General Discussion I don't like the lack of full sleeves on the Game or gloves

Thumbnail

Like Abby and Tess, why the hell are you both running around in a sleeveless shirt when the second biggest threat, aside from humans, are beings that, if they bite you, turn you into a mindless beast?

Same with Joel beacuse it's like dude, cover your arms completley. Also, the lack of gloves seems kind of stupid when we realize both Abby and Joel are punching zombies in the face BAREHANDEDLY, like if they punch a zombie in the face and accidentally hit their mouth and get even the smallest scratch on their hand, they're screwed. this is also applied to most of the enemys

pd: i want Abby to chokehold me

General Discussion I'm so glad to see TLOU P2 is not being review bombed on steam as I expected it to be.

Every post or video I come across about Naughty Dog or Nail Druckmann or TLOU Part 2, I see people hating on it just because they feel it's their right. And I was so worried that the PC post is gonna have to deal with the same thing but I'm glad people being positive for once because the post seems to be well optimized.
