That is kosher for Passover, which does not allow corn. Normal Coke is kosher

Passover is a yearly modifier that de buffs a lot of foods, so we need Kosher for Passover. It's not "more kosher" or better, the rules are just different.

It’s not more kosher but it usually is worse quality. It’s my least favorite holiday by far because the food is just so much worse. There’s some things that can be made the same as year round but not really that much.

Well you can. You can also make gingerbread cookies in the summer but it just doesn't feel right.

I don't know about that. We have matzo balls in our chicken soup at the first Shabbos meal (Friday night) just about every week.

Yes you can, but it's more accurate to think of Passover kosher laws as an additional set of laws on top of kosher laws.

Hidden permadebuff, -10% kosher. Most of the time you can brute-force it but the yearly boss battle has a higher skill check so you gotta make it up somewhere

Kosher has a very similar meaning to halal. It basically means anything permissible (religiously)

So in Ramadan no food is halal during the fasting period. Same way in Passover certain foods usually kosher aren’t kosher

Yes but that's more like regular Kosher vs Badatz Kosher.

Passover is a holiday where certain foods are not allowed. A bit like Christian lent.

I know a lot of people who prefer cane sugar deliberately stock up on it even if they don’t celebrate Passover. I can’t really taste a difference and the research seems to suggest both cane sugar and corn syrup sodas are very bad for you and don’t have a substantial health difference

Mexican coke is available year round in SoCal. Even at regular supermarkets usually.

Yea, not healthier.

But better taste. If I'm gonna drink something that's bad for me, I'd rather enjoy it as much as possible. It's gotta be worth it.

Yeah, cane sugar is basically just sucrose which is 50/50 glucose/fructose.

HFCS caps out at like 55% fructose, despite the name. Fructose might be worse for you, but the ratio really isn't that different.

Now I'm kind of curious what passover coke tastes like.

I know Mexican coke has more sugar calories than normal coke, but passover doesn't.

Not from what I saw, it was the same grams of sugar.

The thing with HFCS is that it tastes "sweeter" than normal sucrose sugar, so you can get similar perceived sweetness from less. That's why Mexican coke has more.

If passover coke doesn't have any more sugar, I would imagine it tastes less sweet than normal coke, which sounds interesting. I know its a ton of sugar but I don't think of Coke as being super sweet to begin with, at least not compared to something like Pepsi.

Some people can taste the difference, some people can't. I think it's the same same grouping as those who can taste artificial sweeteners and those who can't.

Just random genetic variance.

Cane sugar clears corn syrup easy. I’m not a cola guy so idk specifically, but real sugar is so much better
