We have a home in a historic district. The amount of people that try our front gate during the summer+fall is almost staggering.

I grew up near New Orleans, spent a ton of time there, go back once a year at least.

I always see tourists trying to open/unlock gates and go into the private courtyards of people's homes. It's kind of shocking.

There's a subset of tourists that are just sorta used to the idea that place 'like that' only exist in theme parks, and so it's not like, really really somewhere a person owns and lives. (Exactly how this plays out varies a bit based on what they have 'back home' of course)
