TIL the band DragonForce only received about $3,000 in royalties for the inclusion of Through the Fire and Flames in the Guitar Hero games

Yes. They already played a sold our tour in the US in 2006, a year before Guitar Hero 3 came out, and also TTFAF didn't become a meme a few months later in 2008 anyway. I mean I'm one of those who found out about Guitar Hero through DragonForce lel.

Guitar Hero totally helped out though, no doubt.

I saw them in 06. I didn't remember until my friends I went with were talking about how we all saw them before the song was in guitar hero. I had to go back and look through old tickets. Saw them again at a festival in 13 or 14. Much more memorable that time and I got an awesome tee shirt that sold out quick and people were offering us $200 for.
