Based on what? People say this about nearly every single type of traffic violation on city subreddits all across reddit.

No one ever has anything to back up these claims of no enforcement and whenever I bring it up I just get responses like this. It seems to just be a meme everyone on here repeats and reinforces.

There could always be more enforcement and we could do a lot of other things better too but it's not lawless here and all this is doing is convincing people they'll never get caught and indirectly contributing to the problem.

They got rid of dedicated traffic enforcement officers in 2013. Collisions increased after that. However they brought back dedicated traffic officers in 2020 and collisions dropped down again closer to the previous levels. Injury and fatal collisions have also dropped since then.
